Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
If we are dropping the XOM mechanic than allowing him to attack without mgh markers won't really matter right? Since he can't take any turns after exploding for the rest of the round.

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
It wouldn't make a mechanical difference (unless he's fighting Zatanna), but I feel like it's an important theme distinction with the markers being purely to denote MGH. MGH shouldn't be the source of his power, just an enhancer.

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
So if we drop the X reveal for an extra marker, does that mean he can only gain 1 marker per round (before initiative) or can he also get one marker before taking a turn?

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
I honestly don't see a huge need to complicated it...Other than Zatanna he'd always have a marker and the only time he wouldn't have the Marker is when he explodes in which case he can't attack until the next round anyway...and he'd get a new marker to start that round.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
To simply, replace this:
X is equal to either 1 or the number of MGH Markers on this card, whichever is greater. with this: X is equal to 1 plus the number of MGH Markers on this card. |

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
But then he has a range up to 4 spaces. I think that will be too much.

I'm just trying to avoid the either/or statement in the power. The whole whichever is greater wording just seems off and to use a statement the oldtimers use...to customy. Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
It does seem weird to have additional text describing something that won't happen.

Nitro was around for 30 years before they ever connected him to MGH, and it's never been portrayed as the actual source of his powers. I think the MGH theme is worth having on the card, because Civil War is a defining moment for Nitro, but it feels like a step too far to imply that he actually needs it to explode. You could sidestep the issue entirely by giving the SA a static range and have only the attack modified by the MGH markers, but the expanding range is pretty cool and I wouldn't be too quick to cut that mechanic. We've used "or... whichever" wording before, on Flash-Bang Grenade. |

Re: The Book of Nitro (Design Phase)
What about something like 'All figures within 1+X spaces are affected. X equals the number of MGH Markers on this card, to a maximum of +2'. That does mean that he reaches max blast range (though not power) at 2 Markers, but other than that it's the best of both worlds.
Honestly, though, I'd just keep it at 1+X and let his max blast radius be 4. The present wording also doesn't really bother me. |
