Anyone have any good ideas for the Guardians? They're a huge part of the GL universe, but I've struggled to come up with a good design for them.
Here's what I have so far. I'm not sold on Guardian's Orders yet, but ideally they'd work especially well with GLs somehow. Quote:

Yeah the tough thing about the Guardians is they don’t really...do anything. Would love to see them though.
I have some ideas for concepts but not really any ways to execute them. One idea is some sort of Oan Wisdom power, maybe that has them “consulting” with other Guardians in your army? The other thought I have is that they do see themselves as guardians/protectors of everything. (hence the name) That could be cool to play into somehow. |

Yeah, I was thinking an initiative boost maybe to represent their wisdom/omnipotence. Maybe with a bonus for the more Guardians in your army?
Or maybe they could have a bonus against Event Heroes, since that's the only time they really join the fight. Taking their guardian name literally is an interesting idea. I'm not sure how to portray that thematically, though, since the Guardians are pretty out of touch with the universe. They didn't even help fight the Sinistro Corps until the Anti-Monitor attacked. They don't do a whole lot of protecting themselves, it's more protecting by proxy. |

Yeah the “guarding” thing is tricky. They’re not out taking bullets for people like Supes is. I feel like they see themselves almost as the parents of the rest of the universe...kind of looking down from above in a more or less benevolent way. I don’t really know how to represent that in-game though. Cause you’re right, most of what they do is steering GLs around and telling Hal Jordan he can’t do stuff he wants to do.

Make them choose an Officer for a champion and then offer some benefit like an Extra marker or something.

Interesting idea Karat. I could see something like that working with Ion. Like they choose a GL to take the Ion entity. |

Just an idea; what if they started off the battlefield and only showed up if a big enough threat arrives?

That could work as a figureless design if we ever go that route. It'd be tricky to balance though.
I thought up a more interesting version for OM-control & GL boosting while trying to fall asleep last night. Rather than a straight up boost you have to choose what bonus to receive. GUARDIAN’S ORDERS After revealing an Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with this Guardian of the Universe, you may take a turn with any unique hero you control. If that hero is a Green Lantern, you may choose to may add one to that Green Lantern's move, range, attack, or defense until the next time you reveal an Order Marker. |

Do GLs need their ridiculous stats boosted anymore?
Between this and Kilowog some of them will essentially be at full power even after they use all their markers. |

Yeah, I probably wouldn't focus on stat-boosting for the GLs.
Only kinda familiar with the Guardians, but I see them as control-freaks... maybe some kind of OM management but with a downside? Maybe a Strategic Discipline type effect? |

HEED THE GUARDIANS After revealing an Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with any two Green Lanterns you control. Green Lanterns you control cannot take turns by any means other than this special power.
