Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I'm curious, before we start sending out the design for Public Testing, we may as well address it just in case.
Do we want to drop the Order Marker requirement from Mother Nature? As-is, it currently only works with non-SS figures, half works when you're next to a Tree/Jungle Piece, and the other half works when you spend your entire movement on grass or swamp. Do we feel it's necessary to have the OM requirement on it? In the Initials, it never really hindered anything, nor did it affect anything positively/negatively. It was just sort of there. Do we want to remove that requirement going into Public testing, which would go further into making the power/wording a bit more concise? Quote:

I'm okay with dropping the OM requirement and having it just be a passive boost she provides to the army.

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I probably should have said this before, but it only just started bothering me - what is the actual thematic reason that she can't help people with Superstrength? I mean, I know it's to encourage more thematic pairings and alleviate balance issues, but it's starting to feel a bit... gamey to me, now. I like restrictions to have thematic justification, when possible.

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Superstrong people are too macho to accept help from grass.
Seriously though, I don't think it feels that weird for her to be focusing on helping people who aren't powerhouses. (Not that literally everyone with SS is a walking dynamo, but I don't think this would be the first time we used it as a flag for "big deal" characters) Not needing an OM would be a big boon for her in some Suicide Squad builds and in other OM-manager type builds that have a use for the X. |

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Because it's "Mother Nature". She's helping and protecting those that need it most. :P Thematically, she's more akin to helping those that just so happen to not have SS. That's who she works with in most cases in the comics, and her thematic pairings don't have SS. Much like Mr. Fantastic could certainly lead more people than simply Adventurers, and that not all Adventurers are people he even associates with or is in the same universe, but that's the designation that encompasses the most that he thematically synergizes with.

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
SS figures are big meanies that crush the grass with their big stupid feet.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
I can go either way on the OM restriction; I lean slightly towards keeping it, but I agree there are plenty of restrictions already that it's not strictly needed.

Well
It's more that it's a universal boost. It's probably not going to be problematic, but keeping an eye on how many of those you end up making is important.

Re: The Book of Poison Ivy II (Vote for Public Playtesting)
Thanks for the quick feedback.
I believe the non-SS limitation cuts at least 1/3 of the roster out of contention, then it comes down to the map you play on to determine how useful the other bonuses are. She's also relatively easy to take down. So I'd imagine it's pretty reasonable. I'm just double checking to see if there's any crazy strategies that come to mind that warrant concern. |
