My fiance and I hung out with Oprime and his wife yesterday and got in a good day of gaming...

1x Nightfall
This was a first for my fiance and I, which we enjoyed. I like the unique play mechanics relative to deck building. My fiance won this game. Looks like I'll have to start playing my copy of this now...

1x Rune Age
We played the monument scenario and my girlfriend won this game also. We all enjoy this game, but it still lacks the variety that it needs to really make it shine. Here's to hoping we see expansions for this...

1x Eaten by Zombies!
This was really cool and fun to play with four players because of the zombie aspect. Oprime's wife and my fiance became zombies, leaving Oprime and I to struggle and survive. It created a lot of tension and made for some good laughs. I won this game.

1x Age of Empires III
This was also a first for my fiance and I. This is a really great game and I'm shocked that I never had shown interest in it in the past. It has a slightly reminiscent feel to Cyclades in how you play for order and placement along with resource management. Oprime's wife won this game.

Anyway.

We've been playing Summoner Wars with some 'Scape tourney prep mixed in. It's been a fair amount of gaming recently in the 'Scaper family home.

Ifstream is over here right now and told me to check this. It is like he said, we had one Hero card and the result of one of the quests that he had done that stopped us from having to do darkness phases. He got both of those. We both had one re-roll card each but we only had to use one on the last battle. In other words we used enough dice and had enough hits to win with just one set of rolls each. On every battle we both participated and calculated out the odds of getting enough hits to make sure we had plenty of dice. I think in the first battle against the dragon guy we rolled close to 15 dice total.

Saturday afternoon I got in two games of 'Scape and tried out Wave 14's Zaeus with Q-9 and 2x Gorillinators vs. Wave 14's Omegacron with Zetacron, 1x Repulsors, and 2x Snipers. Then finished up with a five person Carcassonne with about half of the 15 expansions... the new comer ended up with both the King and Robber Baron for an additional 50+ point end game bonus.

One of my graduated students leaves for the Navy tomorrow so we had a going away party for him tonight. I brought along The Resistance just in case and it turned out to be a huge hit.

Resistance x 5 -I had played this game 4 or 5 times prior annd it was always the same result. 1 - resistance, 2 and 3 - spy, 4 - resistance, 5 - spy. So I was a little iffy about the game seeing as it always seem to have the same outcome. Well boy was I glad to be wrong. We played 5 games and only once did that happen. The resistance won 3 / 5 and even got it by the 4th mission twice. We also added the plot thickens cards for 3 of the games and they added an interesting twist the game. A great part / deduction game for all. I've played with my gaming buddies, my teens, and my adult Bible study and they all seem to enjoy it. The great thing about tonight was that it was the students asking to play it over and over again.

I played Inca Empire tonight with the gaming group. The designer of the game is a member of our gaming group and has let us try out a bunch of his games in early stages and help test them. Inca Empire is big time, as it was nominated for an international gaming award and is really fun to play. Definitely a Euro game, but cool.
