Re: C3G Battle Reports
Well, we have made it to our 15th game of C3G Heroscape. This week we added the following units into our unit pool: Green Lantern (John Stewart), Shadow Thief, Green Arrow (Connor Hawke), Magma, and Red Tornado. My friend who won last week picked Nightwing (I) as his unit to add to the game. So now we now have a total of 140 units to pick from!
Normally we play on Thursday night, but because it was Thanksgiving last week, we played on Tuesday. Unfortunately only one of my friends could not do Tuesday, so we had another two player game. That makes three two player games in a row. We played this game on a BOV tournament map called “Swamp Thing”. See the photo below: With only 2 of us this week, I made the armies 1600 points in size. We also decided to play a DC only game. Below is what we played: Gamerhusband “Player 1” Hawkman 225 Hawkgirl 225 Professor Zoom 250 Swamp Thing 235 Red Tornado 300 Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) 150 Black Canary (I) 190 Bodyguard 15 Player 2 Captain Marvel (Billy Baston) 350 Wonder Woman (I) 300 Martian Manhunter (I) 300 Ozymandias 200 The Riddler (I) 140 Rorschach 140 Count Vertigo 160 Game Play Summary The game starts with Ozymandias taking my 2 marker away. I realized right away that Ozymandias needed to get removed from this game, so I went after him with Zoom. I would of liked to use Hawkman or Hawkgirl, but Count Vertigo put an end to that. With Zoom’s “Superspeed”, I was able in engage Ozymandias with height advantage, and still attack him with my normal attack. See below: I landed 2 wounds, but it was and short lived glimmer of hope, as I got "Golden Lassoed" away by Wonder Woman on the next turn. Later Wonder Woman did get 3 wounds from Zoom, but in the end, Captain Marvel and Martian Manhunter, finished Zoom off. That was the end of the real 2 player game. While of was trying to get Zoom free, Player 2 as able to really secure Ozymandias position on a high shot on the board, right next to Count Vertigo, and basically shut me down. With Ozymandias out of reach, I kept losing turns. This allowed Martian Manhunter to slowly surround me with Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. I did kill Wonder Woman with Hawkgirl, and Red Tornado did some damage on Captain Marvel, but it was not enough. Then Captain Marvel went on a huge killing streak. He killed Hawkman in one turn while Hawkman had full life. Then on a later turn I made a blunder with Swamp Thing and did not realize that the space I was on did not allow me to use “The Green”. Captain Marvel then quickly turned Swamp Thing into mulch. Player 2 then cleaned up with was left on my side of the board with ease. In conclusion this game was over before it started. After my feeble attempt to take out Ozymindias early with Professor Zoom failed, all I could do was watch. The army Player 2 built this week, was pretty scary. With our random card draw and our limited card pool, it felt like this was one of the most powerful armies my group as fielded so far. I would love to hear what everyone here at C3G thinks about the build. Game Awards: Hero: Captain Marvel This was Captain Marvel’s first play in our group. He gets the award this week for his effective power use. “Wisdom of Solomon” really helped Player 2 counter many of my moves. It is also great to have this power in conjunction with Ozymindias”s “Smartest Man in the World”. It gave Player 2 more order marker freedom, while at the same time, limiting mine. Also, when Green Arrow tried to attack Captain Marvel from long range, and with height advantage, “Courage of Achilles” was able to stop Oliver from attacking at all. Zero: Hawkman He gets the award this week for having the absolute possibly of having an awesome moment, and then not having one. With Hawkgirl wounded/dead, Hawkman was able to pound Captain Marvel with two big attacks. But alas, Player 2 got to attack with Captain Marvel right before it was my turn to attack with Hawkman and was killed from full life, with a single hit. Ouch! Splash Page Momemt: Wonder Woman Lasso’s Professor Zoom Ozymindas was getting pretty heavily attacked by Professor Zoom, when all of a sudden Wonder Woman Lasso’s him away and saves the day. Looks awesome! Though I got scared when I saw you added both Magma and Red Tornado to your pool on the same day.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Ozy, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter are all top level figures and MM, WW, and Captain Marvel are all a bit beefier than anyone in your army. Pretty solid.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Yep. When I read your army I thought that is pretty good then I read the other army and thought GH got smoked.
That is just too many top notch designs to overcome without awesome gameplay and lucky dice. |

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Our group played our Thanos Infinity game last night. You can see the set up we used in the Thanos book. It was a 3 v 2 game, with me playing both Thanos and Thanos's army.
Teams were: Thanos - 1200 pts and his Army: Quicksilver (to help grab gylphs) Blob (to tie down enemies) Ant-Man 30pts (filler) vs Team 1 Iron Man (Hasbro) 220 Black Panther Team 2 Captain America 240 Scarlet Witch Team 3 Thor Kool-Aid Man (yes, you read that right!) Thanos started with the Reality Gem. And the Power, Mind and Time Gem were placed on the map. Thor, Iron Man and Cap grabbed those gems to start the game. Thanos was able to kill Iron Man and grab the power Gem in the 1st round. The Reality Gem was huge for Thanos, I was able to move order markers off of Thor and onto Kool-Aid Man, who we quickly realized was a major liability in this game. In round 2 Thor took a couple of wounds and lost his gem to Thanos, and Quicksilver was able to grab the space gem and pass it to Thanos. Quicksilver died and Thanos got a Hex Marker placed on him. The Hex Marker was never a factor though. In round 3 Blob was able to tie down both Cap and Black Panther. At this point Thanos had all the gems but the Time Gem which Cap refused to give up, blocking every attack by Blob. In round 4 Blob and Ant Man went down, as did Kool Aid Man, who healed Thor. At this point Thanos had attacked Thor so many times and had done very little damage, no matter what I rolled Thor would block it or only took a wound. In round 5 Thanos went down but reset his life. Thanos bounced around the board but didn't do enough damage to kill anyone. Cap finally was able to knock the Gauntlet out of Thanos hand and Thor was able to pick it up and hit Thanos but quickly lost it. Black Panther was able to pick it up and take Thanos out for good. The game ended with 2 wounds on Black Panther, 2 on the Scarlet Witch, and 1 on Cap. We all really enjoyed the game, although Thor's owner was annoyed early because of being forced to move so many order marker over to Kool Aid Man. I was 1 gem away from Thanos being able to Snap, but Cap wouldn't take a wound. We are going to try this game again but 2 v 2, still working out points. Hero: Captain America - Cap blocked at least 8 attacks before finally coughing of the Time Gem, and by that point the game was just about over. Runner up was Blob, he couldn't wound Cap, but kept both Cap and Black Panther in the same spot for a few rounds, blocking everything Black Panther threw at him. Zero: Iron Man - Tony grabbed the Power Gem turn 1, attacked and was blocked by Thanos. Thanos then wounded him, next turn he grabbed the Gem and killed him. He really did nothing. Splash Moment: Blob has Cap tied up and everything is lined up for Thanos to grab the Time Gem, all Blob has to do it knock it away from Cap. Blob attacks and rolls 5 skulls on five dice. You guessed it, Cap rolls 4 shields and gets another auto shield for the block. Thanos was all set to use the space Gem and scoop up the last gem to complete the Gauntlet. I was so close. |

Sounds like a fun game.
Unfortunately KAM is usually the MVP for the other team. Oh no! A cloud can change its semblance, yet retain its will With the intimacy of destruction, One knows what it is to be alive The empty sky holds no reflection, for sorrow - Eslo Rudkey |

I've had fun with KAM. Don't own him yet, but I've used him testing (C3G and personal) and he's usually worked well for me.

Cap standing up to Thanos is as classic as it gets.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
That was a fun read, I was looking forward to it.
I do think though that since you had a separate army, there should have been a 4th Gem placed on the map at the start of the game. Cap's weaknesses against Thanos are his lack of Flying/SS and Cap's SA having R5/A4 vs Thanos' Normal Attack of R6/A6. Thanos' best weapon against Cap is the Space Gem, or even deadlier, Space Gem + Time Gem. Due to these weaknesses, you can trap Cap and pick at him from afar. Some examples being Sanctum City Piers, The arrow points to a spot on the map where there's a 2-hex pit 6 levels deep that Cap can't climb out of. Thanos can Space Gem Cap in there, and Time Gem to blast down with extreme height from atop that wall. Or keep sticking Cap in the water below where he has to take 2 turns to get moving up the ladder. EDIT: Some misinfo below: On a competitive map, Any of those 2-hex walls are places Cap would have to roll for falling damage to get down from. Stick him up on one and out-range him. Or if you use Knockback, set him up so even if he blocks your attack, he might still fall off a ledge. Obviously, these are specific maps, and not every map will have places like this, but they're good to look for when using Thanos. Last edited by toyhandle; December 9th, 2020 at 11:17 PM. |

Re: C3G Battle Reports
That sewer map is meant to be played with the walls uncapped. They’re just line of sight blockers, and there’s a rule where you can’t fly over them.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Yep. There are no hexes on top of those columns, so no spaces that can be occupied.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Quote:
I should have been more specific, Cap blocked 6 attacks from Blob and 2 from Thanos before losing the Time Gem. We thought about placing a 4th gem for Thanos's army but decided against it, thinking Thanos would have too easy a time grabbing it. It would be like starting with 2 gems. |
