Re: The Spellbook of Mesmerize (Initial Playtesting)
Yep - and as I explained in Hypnotise's Initial, that is also even more anti-Red Skull, so that sounds good as well!

Re: The Spellbook of Mesmerize (Initial Playtesting)
That reminds me, should it subtract 3 down to a minimum of 1 dice or are we going to have it completely negate an attack of 3 or less? I'm thinking still let them roll 1 die personally. Might clear up any issues with powers that trigger after rolling attack dice if they are still rolling the 1 die.

Re: The Spellbook of Mesmerize (Initial Playtesting)
It triggers before an attack, so any interactions with Deadly Strike/Shot should be obvious. Minimum of 1 has a precedent though, so it wouldn't hurt to add that.

Re: The Spellbook of Mesmerize (Vote for DR Playtesting)
We should come to an agreement on the minimum or no minimum before more tests are run but I'll go ahead and vote with my preference included any maybe by the time everyone has voted we will have a clear direction.
yea - prefer minimum of 1 attack die (represents blindly firing/swinging and maybe still getting lucky with a hit) |

Re: The Spellbook of Mesmerize (Vote for DR Playtesting)
I'm more worried about this one being underpriced than Hypnotize. Any spell that happens without requiring investment of turn/OM resources is automatically more powerful.
The saving grace here is that Magical Defense already limits the effect of a massive strike from a big hitter, so the value of nerfing an attack is a lot lower for the full MD figures. This power obviously amplifies other defensive powers, though, such as Mordo's Dark Arts. Presumably that's built into Mordo's cost to some extent though. Still, we should be aware that the existence of this spell will affect the cost of any future magic-user that has any kind of "spare shields = good thing" defensive power (or similar). Any such figure basically has to be tested with Mesmerize on the card at all times. Last edited by dok; May 2nd, 2017 at 02:17 PM. |
