Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Final Editing
NAME = MATT MURDOCK
SPECIES = MUTATE UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = CITIZEN PERSONALITY = FEARLESS SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 4 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 3 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 80 BLIND JUSTICE You may draft this figure into the same army with one other figure that shares an identity with this figure and is not a Citizen. That figure does not start the game on the battlefield. At the start of any round after Matt Murdock or his Client has been destroyed, remove Matt Murdock from the game and place the other figure on an empty space not adjacent to any enemy figures. ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILEGE At the start of the game you may choose one Unique Hero you control to be Matt Murdock's Client. After revealing an Order Marker on his Client’s card and taking a turn with that Hero, you may move Matt Murdock. PUBLIC DEFENDER While Matt Murdock is adjacent to his Client, if either is targeted for an attack by a figure within 4 spaces, you may reveal an “X” Order Marker on this card. If you do, Matt Murdock and his Client may not be targeted for any attacks or special powers for the rest of the targeting figure's turn. Last edited by redstang; September 27th, 2021 at 09:44 AM. |

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
Looks good! My only comment is that it seems weird you mention the Client in power 1 before defining it in power 2, but I don't think there's an easy way around that with the mechanics. It's an easy to understand design so that little oddity doesn't really bother me.

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
Looks good! There were some concerns about text length still, but I do see how it’s hard to cut any one part of this design.

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
You could probably cut a couple of Murdocks from the first power and just say "Matt" in those occasions.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
I'll start by saying I don't really get too excited about any civilian style designs in general. But also having a lawyer represented by just turn bonding doesn't quite seem right to me. Negotiation seems pretty fitting though, and it's quite the butthole power.
First thoughts on minor tweaks but keeping your same mechanics, I could probably change the full bond to just a movement for Matt. His civilian identity is blind and can't fight, so I don't think he should be hitting someone when he's escorting his client. Also I would put some restrictions on who his client could be. Maybe just Humans? One of the things I'm concerned about is bonding with Beast and having double Negotiations each turn. Nasty! Specifying Human Clients cuts out Beast and Solovar, who I THINK are the only other two with Negotiation, but I could be wrong. Basically having a Negotiator bonding with ANYONE could make for some real unfun moments, so reigning it in a tad would be best. For example Beast and Jean in an X-Men army can be brutal to melee figures, with Jean locking down their movement and Beast taking their OMs. |

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
Matt would totally fight someone in his civilian identity if they were being attacked by someone! He might pull the whole "oops, I didn't mean to hit you, I'm just stumbling around blindly" act to try to stay on the downlow, but he's not going to just let someone grab or murder his client if he's there with them, even in plainclothes.
And the bonding makes sense to me when the lawyer is Matt Murdock, because Matt's totally going to hang close to his client and try to protect them from organized crime and assassins that come to try to take them out. But I do agree that double negotiation is problematic and needs to be shut down. Human only would also cut out Meteorite, who has a close enough to Negotiation to be a problem power. Montoya has a slightly more restricted "Criminal Negotiation" which actually probably makes sense to use here over just plain Negotiation? Montoya is a Human, though, so against Criminals (or with figures that help you make criminals) double negotiation would still be possible with the Human restriction. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Quote:
I think Matt would be able to negotiate with Ninjas/Assassins with considering the types he deals with, so I personally don't love Criminal Negotiation here. That and the 5 range feels a little weird for him I think |

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
I dunno, him taking a turn normally and punching someone seems fine, but while escorting his client it still feels weird that he can attack.
Having him be in a lawman/anti-criminal seems kinda thematic, but he IS a defense attorney so he wouldn't really be helping take down criminals. Is there something we can do to build up the defense attorney angle? Like maybe his client can't be chosen for opponent's special powers at the start of the game? Cuts out things like Bounty Hunter. That seems very thematic! Sure niche, but I don't mind niche for civilian designs. |

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
What if we limit his eligible clients to Humans and make it so that when taking a turn with Attorney Client Privilege he can't use Negotiation. Won't completely fix the issue pointed out, but would make it so that you have to burn two OMs instead of one OM to use both Montoya's and Murdock's Negotiations.

Re: The Book of Matt Murdock - Breathing
We could also just go in a different direction than Negotiation. Maybe let him add to his Client's defense or something (Defense Attorney ).
Also Strategic Discipline could make some sense (or was that slated for Foggy?). C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
