OK, I think the way to go is to lean into her being hard to kill, but keep his actual attack fairly tame until you get to Corrosive Spray time. I added another marker and made his main early offensive weapon the vines. I took out the triple attack. I also changed the range and attack on the special attack to make the numbers a bit easier to remember. Everything is factors of 3, now.

Obviously I'll adjust and tweak and hone things in to get to 1000. If the movement denial is too much, I'll just take that out and leave the power as straight up wounding.

Biollante misses another plant tendril roll and inches forward, attacking from height disadvantage, and draws first blood (one wound) on Godzilla.
Godzilla charges a marker, resists plant tendrils, and engages Biollante from height. Biollante blocks a 4 skull attack on 11 dice from Godzilla.

Round 2: Initiative Godzilla. Godzilla gets a four atomic marker on his card and takes a Plant Tendril wound, then attacks Biollante from height for 2 wounds from a 6 skull roll as Biollante continues to roll defense like a champ.
Biollante fails plant tendrils, takes a swipe, and backs up, then she fails to hit Godzilla from height disadvantage.

Godzilla, clinging to 3 life, avoids the tendrils and overkills Biollante with a five wound attack.

Unit Summary: So far so good! Biollante was beasting on defense early and Godzilla made a tactical error in not positioning well for the Atomic Breath, but Grasping Plant Tendril rolls were ice cold and Biollante probably lost on that alone, as Godzilla survived long enough to get hot on offense and rip through the Spore Markers. Definitely felt like any monster’s game.

I wanted to do the rematch on a map difficult for both figures.
Round 1: Initiative Godzilla. He moves around the edge of the map.
Biollante hits Godzilla with her tendrils and advances to height 2, as far as she can move.
Godzilla avoids the tendrils and advances.
Biollante smacks Godzilla for one wound.
Godzilla gets stuck from plant tendrils.
Biollante hits again with plant tendrils, then hits a whiffing Godzilla for four wounds.

Round 2: Initiative Godzilla. Plant Tendrils miss and Godzilla engages Biollante and hits for five quick wounds.
Biollante can’t get anything done.
Godzilla overkills Biollante by one and forces her to shed a Spore Marker.
Biollante smacks Godzilla for a wound. The tendril rolls are cold again.
Godzilla takes a tendril wound, then hits Biollante for two wounds.
Biollante misses the tendril roll but hits Godzilla for two wounds.

Unit Summary: Biollante rolled a lot closer to average on plant tendrils and won by a solid margin here. I’m thinking I’ll drop her defense by 1 to match Godzilla’s and make it slightly easier to get Spore markers off of her. I think Godzilla’s dice were also rough at a few points here.

Unit Summary: Close one here that could’ve gone either way. Grasping Plant Tendrils really stymied Kong’s ability to generate extra auto wounds, which helped somewhat make up for how many overkill wounds Biollante disregarded and her perpetual height disadvantage. So far so good on the change.

Biollante hits Kong with a tendril, then moves up a level but can’t hit with an attack.
Kong jumps into Biollante but misses the unblockable. On this map he has no way to get height on Biollante without throwing her first. He rolls a five skull attack and Biollante whiffs on her remaining 3 defense and has to lose a Spore marker immediately.
Biollante misses the tendril roll but smacks Kong for three wounds.
Kong throws Biollante to height disadvantage but fails the unblockable, then he smacks her for six more wounds and she sheds a second Spore marker.
Biollante just can’t get a thing done.

Round 2: Initiative King Kong. He takes a wound from the tendrils but can still throw Biollante and does, for one wound. Then he attacks from height and lands a second wound.
Biollante can’t hit her tendrils and Kong rolls 4 shields to just block her attack.
Kong takes a sixth wound from the tendrils and can’t move, but he throws Biollante for a wound, then attacks from height and lands 2 wounds.
Biollante puts a seventh wound on Kong with the tendrils, then has her attack blocked.
Biollante puts an eighth wound on Kong with the Tendrils. He misses his unblockable from throwing her, then wastes her last spore marker with an auto wound from his attack and puts 5 wounds on her with the attack. He reveals the “X,” heals 2 wounds, then rolls a pathetic 2 skulls on 10 dice, but Biollante rolls only 1 shield on her 3 defense dice and falls.

Unit Summary: Kong hit his seventh wound at an opportune time and unlike the last game he managed to rip through spore markers with deadly efficiency. Grasping Plant Tendril rolls were exactly average, but Kong had the room on this map to throw Biollante instead of himself, so it wasn’t quite as advantageous. Had Biollante managed to live long enough to use her special attack, she might’ve had a shot here. Feels pretty balanced.

Biollante smashes a tree out of her way and advances one space.
Tendrils miss, Martian Manhunter advances with height and follows the secret attack plan. Biollante whiffs and she takes 5 quick wounds. Manhunter has Red Arrow advance.
Biollante hits on three Tendril rolls to destroy a jungle plant, wound a Great Evergreen, and wound Martian Manhunter. She can’t target Manhunter for an attack, but does manage to move one space closer.
Martian Manhunter takes another Tendril wound, then overkills Biollante by one as she sheds her first Spore. Red Arrow and Robin are Dispatched.
Biollante hits two of three Tendril rolls and wounds Martian Manhunter and sends an Evergreen Tree into Red Arrow for a wound. She hits the Great Evergreen for a second wound.

Round 2: Initiative Biollante. Her tendrils hit Martian Manhunter and finish the Great Evergreen, which hits Martian Manhunter. He’s down to one life.
Martian Manhunter follows the Secret Attack Plan and smacks Biollante for four wounds. He dispatches Red Arrow and Robin.
Biollante misses her Tendril rolls and can’t do anything else.
Martian Manhunter falls to the tendrils and Red Arrow takes a wound. Oracle rescues the Order Marker and Green Arrow advances. Red Arrow hits Biollante for a wound from height. Green Arrow hits Biollante for one wound from height to efficiently take out the second Spore Marker.
Biollante hits Robin and Green Arrow with her tendrils, but misses Red Arrow. She manages to find a path forward and fails to hit Red Arrow, who is chilling on the bridge.
Tendrils hit Green Arrow. Red Arrow Speed Shots but can’t hit. Green Arrow Skill Shots and lands four wounds on Biollante from height.


Round 3: Initiative Birds of Prey. Red Arrow and Robin take Tendril wounds. Speed Shot overkills the last Spore Marker by one wound while following the Secret Attack Plan. Green Arrow Skill Shots but can’t land a wound.
Biollante hits Black Canary and Red Arrow with Tendrils, then uses her Corrosive Spray on Green Arrow, destroying him.
Black Canary and a Great Evergreen Tree are hit with the Tendrils. Robin advances and fails to hit Biollante from height.
Biollante’s Tendrils hit a Great Evergreen Tree for a second wound. Her Corrosive Spray can’t hit Robin.
Black Canary takes a wound from the Great Evergreen, but advances. Robin falls to the Tendrils.

Round 4: Initiative Birds of Prey. Black Canary advances and screams at Biollante, but can’t hit.

Unit Summary: This felt like it could’ve gone either way throughout, but once I was down to melee figures, it did feel like tough sledding. I think I’m going to limit Grasping Plant Tendrils to 2 figures chosen at a time to make it feel a little less dominant (and give fewer chances). If she feels too strong in public testing, I may lower the range on the special attack as well, but I like that it’s a powerful last minute thing.

UNIT SUMMARY: I feel good about where she’s at overall. She feels solid at 1000. There may be some small tweaks needed here and there if she comes in too strong in public testing, but I feel like she’s about right as is. I’m going to lower the amount of figures she can grasp on one turn to 2 to give midlevel Heroes a bit more of a chance, though.
