I would actually say if you want yellow pair it with a bright green (maybe lime) on top or vice versa.

yeah but it's supposed to be like the lava field where when you are walking on dried magma I want it to look like I'm walking on dried acid on asphalt or something...

In that case i would maybe try and make it like the asphalt tile and use a base of green for inbetween the hexes with highlights of yellow.

you mean the stone heroscape hex or asphalt marvelscape hex? IDH marvelscape yet

You could paint it black just like the regular asphalt then paint the rest in.

good idea but I'd have to test a few different thing in order to get what I want lol, I know! I'll take some pic of different painted hexes

I love the lava. My only question is, are the pieces really tight from the extra layer of paint?

I would say for Acid terrain that a yellow base with a very light tan or brown is the way to go, possibly even very off white.

For the lava flow they tend to get a little tough, but I guess that you get used to it as long as everything stays the way you want, but the feild seems fine the way I did it...

The lava stuff looks really good. And you don't have to find a place to store the rarely used Obsidian Guards.
