A few more questions from the new guy
So, we were playing yesterday as usual, and we got into a a fight (as usual) about some of the rules, especially for engagement. and the question is this: when you move across a figure (you don't stop next to it, you just move across it) does that make your figure engaged? and if so will it take leaving demage when continuing its movement?
and also, and that is just a question we had: can Utgar's army fight alongside other generals? (other than Jander of course...) I read an excellent post about the colors of the generals HeroScape Color Theory, but it didn't seem to quite answer the question. so if you guys could help us out that would be great. |

Re: A few more questions from the new guy
Moving adjacent to a unit, whether you stop or not, causes you to become engaged. As you move away, yes, you will take a disengagement strike.

Re: A few more questions from the new guy
As soon as you move into a space adjacent to your opponents figure you are engaged and if you continue to move out of engagement then your opponent gets a passing swipe.
Exceptions would be any figure that has disengage or if a unit is flying . Any unit can be pairs with any other unit regardless of the general they follow for gameplay. |

Re: A few more questions from the new guy
I'm not sure I totally understand your first question, so I'll just reiterate the rules as they are stated:
As soon as a figure moves into a space that is adjacent to an opponent's figure, they become engaged to it. Once engaged, as soon as they move into a space that is no longer adjacent, the opponent's figure may take a "passing swipe", or whatever you want to call it. This applies even if the "getting engaged" and "becoming disengaged" parts happen in the same turn of movement. So, yes, you have to consider engagement even if your move would carry you beyond the opposing figure. The division of units by Generals is really just for theme. There aren't any rules prohibiting the usage of multiple Generals in the same army. There are, however, sometimes tourneys that use that as a requirement for a change of pace. EDIT: TRIPLE COMBO!!!!! |

Re: A few more questions from the new guy
Stealth Flying and Ghost Walk are other powers that allow you to pass by other figures without becoming engaged. But unless you have one of those powers, you are engaged (as stated by others) as soon as you become adjacent.

Quote:
If you stop next to someone and then try to (regular) fly away the next turn, that's when you take an disengage strike. I need you to be awesome. Can you be awesome?

Re: A few more questions from the new guy
I'm not sure what you mean by "across a figure." You cannot move through an enemy figure or a friendly figure who is engaged (or space they occupy) unless a special ability allows you to do so.
