Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
NAME = LIGHTNING LAD
SECRET IDENTITY = GARTH RANZZ SPECIES = METAHUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = LEGIONNAIRE PERSONALITY = BRASH SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 5 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 220 LEGION ASSAULT Once per round, after revealing an Order Marker on a Legionnaire card you control, instead of taking a turn with that Legionnaire, you may take a turn with Lightning Lad and up to 2 other Legionnaires you control. You may not take any additional turns with figures you control. SHOCKING RIPOSTE If Lightning Lad defends against a normal attack and receives no wounds, you may choose a figure within X clear sight spaces of Lightning Lad. You may then choose one additional figure within X clear sight spaces of the first chosen figure. X is the number of skulls Lightning Lad rolled when defending. Chosen figures without the Electrically Charged special power receive a wound. ELECTRICALLY CHARGED Lightning Lad rolls 1 fewer defense die when he is on a water space. Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
Added in the once per round restriction from the LCW. He'll definitely be more of a Cos add-on this way, but he still should have some utility as a solo leader in smaller builds.

Dig it.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
I might drop the bonus-choose-a-figure bit from Shocking Riposte to streamline. Or just simplify the trigger? It feels a little niche relative to the extra text. Interesting leadership effect.

Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
Cool design. Been a while since I've played legionnaires. I'll have to change that.
I get Ronin's comment on streamlining, I wouldn't mind that. |

Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
Yeah, I originally had him with just a straight-up The Best Defense re-use, but I figured he needed the electricity immunity. At one point I had it so he just zapped everyone adjacent to him, but that felt a little too melee-focused for the character.
I'd be fine paring back down to essentially just The Best Defense but with an added electricity immunity. |

Third alternative power I came up with, which is pretty simple text-wise.

That's cool.
It's a pretty powerful counter ability though, so just keep an eye on his power level! |

Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
5 defense has to both block the attack completely AND roll enough skulls to hit to be effective, though, and then taps out at 1 wound. I think it's worth trying as is. It's most nasty in melee right now. Snipers will mostly laugh at it.

Re: The Book of Lightning Lad (II) (Breathing)
Oh yeah, I wouldn't tweak until you've seen it in action. The potential could be nasty, but I'm not terribly worried.
