Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
I kind of like the idea of upping the Spider Senses roll here, and maybe upping his Life by 1 to compensate. Based on the... uhh, 90s cartoon, he just seems more like a "tank the hit" sort of guy.
I love the Clamber reuse here as well, but it is too bad he won't be able to hang with the Spider-Verse crew. But overall I think he's fun. Tweaking the exact implementation of his Rage is the only major thing you might need to do, but I'm fine going into testing with it. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

The blank is only 1 of 6 sides, not that difficult to not roll one. Rolling some combination of all skulls and shields is a fairly regular occurrence. I don't care if it happens more often at 2-3 dice vs 4-5, the overall impact is lower since it caps out at 4-6 hits instead of 8-10. The theme actually works better for me at 2 dice, that means he's often scoring 2 or 4 hits. 4 hits is right in his power range, getting 4 hits more often than someone rolling 4 dice shows me the ferocity of his attack. |

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
What about a twist, with some incentive to use it on non-adjacent figures?

I like that concept.

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
Went ahead and dropped his attack by 1 and dropped the figure adjacent defense subtraction from Spider Clamber. Not entirely sold on the increase to spider senses yet, but it is still on the table.

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
12 dice with a defense reduction for Range is a lot. Would consider 6 dice and letting you choose 1, 2, or 3 here. But I like the concept.

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
Basically a stronger, but shorter range Queglix Gun....
tckgln is right about the initial version being too strong (it did seem a bit much to me, but I wasn't quite sure), but I still think the concept's perfect. And this has set my mind on the 6. |

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
See that loses it for me a bit
Edit - I think I'd rather lose the defense subtraction Last edited by Karat; April 20th, 2020 at 08:23 PM. |

Re: The Book of Man-Spider (Design Phase)
I’ll say, as a Doppleganger playtester, that S-A A was crazy good, to the point where me and Jekyll barely used any other element on that card. I think Man-Spider has much bigger normal attack potential than Doppleganger, so there’ll probably be less of a lean in one direction here, but I’d be hesitant to re-use that ability, nevermind an even stronger version.
It’s not that I think the power is broken, I just think being able to throw 3 attacks of 4 has the potential to become the defining element of the card, and we just made a spider guy whose defining element is throwing 3 attacks of 4. |
