Gah, TICKS!!! I only hiked 2-1/2 miles, for crying out loud. And that's another thing: only 2-1/2 miles! When I was hiking regularly in 2005, I worked up to hitting 8 miles without any problems! But then gas prices shot through the roof and the summers were too hot, so that cut back my 2-3 hour drives to the really good trails close to Chattanooga and Knoxville. So now I'm hitting the city trails close to Nashville, but they don't have the deep gorges and nice waterfalls. And now I'm down to 2-4 mile trails based on my current stamina. So when I do finally make it farther from the city, I'm huffing my way like a dorky geezer -- which I am anyway -- but I don't need to have it thrown in my face. And what's with the flies and the bees buzzing around my head and the stupid spider webs I keep stepping into?



I swear, the only thing I like about hiking is that it relieves my stress, makes me appreciate nature, and improves my cheerful disposition.

Ok, what have we got?

Hand of Stone
This will still allow stoned figures (pun not intended, but too funny to rephrase) to use defense abilities and other abilities not related to move/attack; such as passing bonding turns, C3G's Hulk's Rage Marker, and providing various bonuses (e.g., C3G's Captain America). Since engagement strikes aren't considered attacks, figures could still do that.

Vetted ability and certainly fits the design.

Final Thoughts
Thematically, I'd think you would want to prevent stoned figures from making engagement strikes. I was going to suggest that you might shut down a stoned figure's abilities, but I don't consider many of the other items mentioned to be complete theme breaks.

Start the game with 3 grey Stone Markers on this card. If Grey Gargoyle inflicts a wound on a Unique Hero with his normal attack, place a Stone Marker on the defending figure’s card. A figure other than Grey Gargoyle with a Stone Marker on its card cannot move, attack in any manner, or use any special powers on its Army Card, and adds 1 additional die to its defense. At the end of each round, all of your Stone Markers are returned to this card.


TOUGH
When rolling defense dice against a normal attack, Grey Gargoyle always adds one automatic shield to whatever is rolled.

Hmm ... I think you're trying to cover "leaving engagement attacks" under "attack in any manner" and I'm not sure if it's clear, because leaving engagement attacks, despite the name, really aren't considered "attacks" for most of the uses of that term.

I think his value will be lessened in army play though, due to there being other attackers if he freezes the first one, so I plan to test him at 200 there still.

Punisher rolled really well on defense and Grey Gargoyle couldn’t get in a wound on him to turn him into stone. Punisher’s special attacks cut through Tough consistently.

Punisher got in three attacks from height to start the game, but Tough and good defense rolls kept Grey Gargoyle from harm, then GG rolled really well on attacks and kept Punisher covered in stone until he was dead.

Lizard only lost one turn from the Stone marker and stopped once to heal (healing 1 wound). He rolled well on attacks here and consistently wounded Grey Gargoyle with his normal attack.

Lizard lost four turns to the Stone markers, and also took two turns to heal, whiffing once, and healing four wounds another time.

Gambit won this on his first attack, rolling skulls for each of his three attacks for his special attack, getting around Tough and piling wounds up on Grey Gargoyle.

SHIELD Agents got mad positioning here and Grey Gargoyle failed to kill any with his first two attacks from height. The SHIELD Agents used normal attacks from height to get 3 wounds on Grey Gargoyle and then finished him off with their Killbox.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? SHIELD Agents with 5 of 6 left win Turn 1, Round 2.

Grey Gargoyle put 2 wounds on Ghost Rider and stole two turns from him before falling in Round 4. He wasn’t every effective here overall and despite the much greater numbers, the Thieves just didn’t have an effective answer to Captain Marvel (every time they stole his glyph, he just got it back since they took a wound right away). His Cosmic Awareness absolutely tore apart the Street Thugs and Body Guards, and that combined with the wound from the glyph made it easy for him to pick Vulture and Black Cat apart.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Captain Marvel with Full Life wins Turn 3, Round 13.

Spoiler Alert!

The heroes distributed Order Markers around a lot due to fear of Grey Gargoyle and GG got in lucky hits on Thor twice early, stealing two of his turns. He also stole 3 turns from Black Widow in end game. Gravitational Grasp also stole a couple of attacks from Black Widow and kept Thor in a bad position. Thor didn’t get in many attacks here and didn’t roll well when he did. Black Widow ended up trying to hurt Graviton and he defended well. This was brutal.
Grey Gargoyle inflicted three wounds on Thor, and one on Black Widow.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Grey Gargoyle and Graviton won with Full Life both in Turn 3, of Round 5.

I like 200 overall!
