Haven't had a tourney in a while but even casual games can be competive. I voted casual just because the question seems to be about fun vs "showing superiority". I always play with fun in mind first but I also play to win. If you don't play to win, fun is lost. If you play only to win, fun was never there. |

Casual all the way. Even if I was in a big tourney area, I'm pretty sure 95% of my games would be casual. I like to have fun and play the game. Most of the time we play, 50% is playing and the other 50% is just hanging out having fun. Now that doesn't mean we don't like to take the game seriously or anything, it just means we like to have a good time. That's what the game was designed for. If you play and can't have fun....what's the point? We don't really care about balance or competitiveness. If you take Q-9, Krav, and Braxas...I'm still gonna try and beat you down with 24 Romans and the Gladiators. Heck, when we set points...we let each other go over 5-15 points if they can't fit what they want in. It's all part of the fun.

Right now, the only ones I play Heroscape with are my son, one of his friends, and one of my neighbors who is doing everything in his power to convert me over to Warhammer 40K (he even gave me an entire army of Eldar to paint - over 100 figures)

Yeah, if I blow people out too badly, I start feeling bad for them quickly and try to change up the map/armies the next game to give them more of an advantage. :P (like the DW7k/Dund/Marden Hounds army I used against the Syvarris/Raelin/4th Mass/Krav/Carr combo on a board with a large body of water in the middle and height advantage on his side ... man I got slaughtered! But it was fun.)
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I would like to get more casual game time in with some players I usually only see at tourneys; maybe Gencon 07 will afford me more casual game time with some of those competitive players. |

wow, i figured that there would be a bit more competitve players. Maybe you thought i meant that competitve players dont get to have fun, which isnt the case.
C3G is why I play heroscape. |
