Puppet Master was rolling poorly at first and the Dynamic Duo jumped out to an early lead, with the Batarangs scoring a bunch of early wounds on the dinos. Dinos came roaring back in the second round and managed to take out Bats, though, giving them enough of a lead to take a pretty easy victory.

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): 2 wounds to Batman in 2 attacks (destroyed)
• Weak-Minded: swung 1 String Pull roll (turned out to be a key roll because it got him the finishing blow on Batman and killed an OM)
• Damage Taken: 4 wounds from Batman in 2 normal & 1 special attack, 3 wounds from Robin in 3 attacks (destroyed)

Units: LLTR x3, Enchantress (I), Mentallo, Angel (Warren) (775) vs Cable, Sage, Rover, Angel (Warren), Jubilee (775)

Lack of SS lets Amora Enchant the T-Rexes. She teams with Mentallo because he's not bad on his own, gets a bonus when activating the Rexes, and he also helps work as a range extender to activate the T-Rexes from farther away. (OM on Amora -> turn with Mentallo if he's within 4 spaces -> use Telepathic Suggestion on a Rex within 10 spaces of him). Theoretically if Amora soul swaps a Rex away Mentallo would also be good for taking control of it, but Soul Swap is gonna need a whiff to happen here.

A Rex takes out Jubilee in one bite early, thanks to Amora, but he gets taken down by Cable on the very next turn. A second Rex charges out and puts a couple wounds each on Rover and Angel. Cable has some poor rolls and needs a couple turns to take him out, but does get his rex eventually (and narrowly avoids getting Soul Swapped on a couple 1-skull rolls). Cable almost picks off Rex #3 before he can even get close, but the Rex scrapes through and finishes off Rover before going down.

With all the Rexes down and Cable still at full health, Amora wasn't completely hopeless, but it was gonna be an uphill fight. Fortunately for her, Cable had some weak rolls, and Amora actually got an opportunity to Soul Swap for Cable late in the game... but couldn't do it because it was with Angel, and the enemy team also had Angel. D'oh!

Thanks to that, the X-Men scraped through and took the victory. Amora managed to take out Cable, but she was down to 1 Life at that point and fell to Enemy!Angel.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Rexes feel okay to me at 60. They can fall to heavy-hitters without a lot of trouble, but they're definitely a threat to most figures in the <200 range. Weak-Minded is a pretty light touch, but it gives you something fun to play with in army-building, which is nice.

Referencing prior conversation regarding the Lost Lands:

You should probably house these guys at Dynamite. Dynamite has owned the rights to Turok for several years and he's still working in the Lost Lands there in his current publications. It feels weird to associate a random generic with an era of comics we otherwise likely won't touch when it could instead be placed with its current, ongoing home. Lost Lands isn't a thing in modern Valiant where our designs are coming from.

Yeah, kind of an unlucky break. Would have almost certainly been a Rex/Enchantress win without that.

Most of the art I have found is Valiant. I guess I do not understand the benefit of going with Dynamite. Also I am going for an old school feel so being part of something defunct seems like a perfect fit.

Literally the first image you posted of Turok was from Dynamite dude, its still Lost Lands. And if you want defunct, go Acclaim. Valiant still exists. You're just pulling from an era that completely doesn't mesh with the rest of the designs from that publisher. It'd be a bit like pulling art from the 1940s for a general DC civilian design. Saying you want an "old school feel" means nothing to me when nothing of the design says old school other than the art, which makes it not mesh with other things that essentially all have art from the last ten years, rather than stuff from 25 years ago. Obviously you have the final call, but again it still feels weird to deliberately pull from an era incompatible with all other designs of that publisher, with an art style that doesn't even mesh with the rest of the designs of the project.

Honestly, while I think it usually makes sense to go with the current publisher for this kind of thing, I don’t see the real problem with Valiant not being “compatible.” It’s sounding like you’re saying because you went with the reboot versions of Valiant characters that it’s somehow invalid for Tornado to go with something from classic Valiant.

I think you should go DCU here. The design fits. Pretty sure they have T-Rexes.
