I’m an engineer by profession, so that name is cool with me

Something I want to mention is that feedback from map designers will be important. I recently read some good material on mapmaking (sorry that I forget who wrote it), but they made the comment that Heroscape terrain has few “accelerators”. Road is one of the only ones, as water, LOS blockers, engagement rules, etc often make it harder to move figures.

For that reason, I like the idea of things that promote movement, like heroes within 2 clear sight spaces of a statue-esque LOS blockers add 2 to their move.
