How to Beat:
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)
By: Fi Skirata

Last time we brought you the extremely powerful head of the Skywalker family, so why don’t we keep the train rolling by bringing you his almost-equal-in-power son, Luke Skywalker. At the Jedi Knight stage, Luke has become an incredibly strong character that can easily hold his own among the heavy hitters. With 5 life, 5 attack and 5 defense, this version of Luke sits as the fourth strongest figure to be released, and is also tied for fourth most expensive at 200 points. However, his greatest weakness also lies in tandem with his greatest strength: his anger-driven fighting abilities. One of the biggest benefits for playing this version

Fan Fiction Spotlight - February 2017

Fan Fiction Spotlight
The Fan Fic Competition
By: The Grim Reaper’s Friend

Greetings to the readers of the Codex! February has been a slow month for us, so because it’s taking longer than anticipated to get fully off the ground, I decided to pitch in where I could, and write my own article.

But what to write on? I don’t exactly have a large presence on Heroscapers. I could write about the inner workings of the Codex ... but no, I put everything worth saying on Facebook already (shameless promotion: check). I could write about playing CoN, and tell the readers the secrets to failing spectacularly in the gameplay ... somehow I doubt that would work.

Or I could write about fan fiction. Fan fiction is where, after floating aimlessly in the “general discussions” forum for a year or two, I finally landed, and it is there that

How did you get into Heroscape, Heroscapers and C3G?

I first got into Heroscape back in 2011 when a friend and I were looking for a superhero board game to play. I had seen games kind of like Heroscape before, so I searched Amazon and Marvel Heroscape and Heroclix came up. I bought the Marvel set and a Heroclix starter set. After playing Heroscape, we had no interest in trying Heroclix, as we immediately fell in love with ’Scape.

Just a few days after that, I had searched online for Marvel Heroscape expansions. I believe it led me to a Heroscapers thread discussing them, and that they were cancelled. I browsed a bit further and came across the customs section. I browsed the giant customs alphabetical thread, and really dug what I saw from GreyOwl in terms of quality

Repaint Feature - February 2017

Rise of Orgsbane
Repaint Feature
Author: The Obfuscatedhippo

One of the most terrifying squads—and sculpts—from Classic ’Scape (in my opinion) is the Minions of Utgar. With Deadly Strike and an unshakeable defense, these winged fiends of Utgar have likely reigned chaos and destruction on your battlefields.

But what would an angel or a demon look like without its wings? This was the question and challenge leveled to orgsbane when I commissioned his work for a repainting / reimagining of the minion sculpt.

The result of orgsbane’s artistry and ingenuity was a trio of barbarians that were featured in a Custom Contest from 2013.

HoSS Strategy Guide
Snowtroopers
By: Fi Skirata

Analyzed Statistics:
Height – Medium (Average for most figures; leaves them vulnerable to many special attacks and other powers.)
Life – 1 (Standard for squad units.)
Move – 4 (Below average; makes them a little hard to maneuver around the battlefield, but does not limit them too much.)
Range – 6 (Average; common for ranged units.)
Attack – 1 (Low; hard to use against any unit, but especially hero units.)
Defense – 3 (Average for squads; this level of survivability will keep them in the fight long enough to do some damage.)
Points – 70 (Expensive for HoSS squads, being the 2nd most expensive common squad
