Image of the Week

On the shores of Normandy rages a fierce battle between the men of the United States Army, and their mortal enemies on the mainland. The fight was a long and brutal one, but in the end the brave Americans were able to punch through. Scottshlad9 recreates the memorable battle with our own military men: the Airborne Elite.

Thread of the Week
Do you love Megasilver's Unit Debates? Are you a fan of making, playing, or looking at maps? If you answered yes to both of these, then Rednax's Map Debate series is just the thing for you! This week two of the best lava maps on the site are featured: Hot Heights and Fire Isles.

Custom of the Week
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the cards bind them. LOTR Customs have arrived in full force. For years the idea has been tossed around, but to date none have...

Scaper of the Week # 41 - NecroBlade

Posted October 25th, 2009 at 04:44 PM by rym
Well, here we are with another highly anticipated 'Scaper of the Week interview. This week's honor goes to none other than NecroBlade. Much like Onacara, NecroBlade's one of those people you either love or hate. And I think GreyOwl said it best last week when GreyOwl picked "NecroBlade because at first he irritated me, and then all of a sudden he no longer did, and now we even agree more often than I'd like to admit. And I'd like to know why!" It's hard to believe he hasn't been nominated before now! But wait no more, friends. Read on to discover more about the young man behind the Robert Downey, Jr. avatar.

I present to you:
Member of the Year for 2009, the Nefarious NecroBlade!

Our 41st Scaper of the Week:

My Master Plan for Heroscape Packaging and Distribution

Posted November 6th, 2009 at 04:13 AM by Agent Minivann
Updated November 9th, 2010 at 02:27 PM by Agent Minivann
Some time ago I had an idea about making wholesale changes to the packaging scheme for Heroscape. I think that the D&D master set just drove home that I'm onto something good. Walmart shelves have space for a Marvel size box and a box or two of small expansions.

Part I - The Big Sets
In this new packaging and distribution scheme the big sets change a bit. For D&D, Marvel, and Fortress of the Archkyrie nothing changes. For everything else it does. First the existing master sets, Rise of the Valkyrie and Swarm of the Marro, get divvied up into smaller chunks. For the RotV it gets separated into about four equal portions. SotM goes in half. The large expansions get put in with one of the Master Set portions. Each master sub set would have a couple 24 hex pieces, a selection of the other standard terrain, one type of expansion terrain, expansion LOS pieces, and two players worth of order markers. Each set then gets a selection of the unique figures that...

A funeral

Posted December 4th, 2009 at 06:41 PM by The B.I.V.
First off, I’m a father of 5. And I honestly don’t enjoy it like, 90% of the time. For one thing, I’m not allowed to be a kid myself. I’m forced to be an adult and I really don’t like adults much at all (which is probably why I spend so much time here, but I digress). The other thing that makes it less than enjoyable is that I can’t just go and do whatever I want because my every action is scrutinized by the little ones and incorporated into their lives and, while I don’t mind them emulating my awesome qualities, I’d rather they not emulate my less-than-stellar ones.

At any rate, this kid in our neighborhood died this week. Jared is the same age as my oldest, Peter (7 ½) so it definitely hits home. The two of them used to walk home from school together and were on the same soccer team. In fact, I coached the team last Fall. That was about the time Jared was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor at the base of his skull. Nearly a year later he’s gone.
