Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
I think these guys will be good against rats. The combination of feral rage and techno hatred will likely discourage rats from scattering towards them.
I can see them as a good way to clear rats from a glyph without needing a special attack. They'd also probably be good against glads/blasts. |

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
When was the last time you played on a map that didn't use either Jungle or RttFF?
I am glad that this time around these guys aren't limited by the map. So many maps use RttFF... I have a feeling that maybe 1/4 of the time these guys will be at 7 move. Even then, though. It's better than 7 move 0% of the time. Last edited by Warlord Alpha; November 11th, 2009 at 09:27 PM. |

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
Yeah, the anti-rat, anti-Gladiatron abilities seem intriguing.
I have a hard time figuring out whether these guys will be merely pretty good, or really good. There isn't as much of a clear comparison to an older unit. Well, I suppose they're a bit like Monks, except they don't suck. |

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
These guys are pretty incredible anti-swarm units. 9 potential attacks. I like that they're valuable even beyond an anti-rat screen/anti-blast/glad combo. If positioned right with 7 movement these guys could devastate lines of 4th or 10th or so on.

Wow, an anti swarm squad swarm squad. One hundred points times five hits the spot!

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
While these guys might be a good counter-draft for certain types of armies I can't imaging these guys will be very useful tournament figures.
They look to me like expensive monks(who are already too expensive). Advantages of Monks: 20 points cheaper (big) Can attack any number of figures instead of just three(minor because that isn't going to happen often) +1 unconditional move (big) Stealth Leap (big) Advantages of Hunters: +1 defense(big) conditional +1 attack (soulborgs, could be big or useless) +2 conditional move(vegetation, big or useless) Sisyphus' Probability Tables Tournament Director: Makes running a tournament easy. Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
I don't see these guys as a good anti-rat unit at all...
It's still not a special attack, so the rats are going to scatter. Let's say a QH lands next to three Rats. He swings at the first and even if he hits it, the other two are going to Scatter out of adjacency. They look like they might do the job against some Gruts, though! |

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
These guys look like they might kick the creamed corn out of 'trons, but I'm not convinced that they'll do to well in general contests.
They'll be good against 'trons because their Techno Hatred balances Glad's Melee Defense, and their Feral Rage will make opponents reluctant to swarm them with Glads, reducing the effectiveness of Blasts. Against everyone else they will be about the same as Monks, except 20 points more for 1 more Defense and a different special movement, but still just as reliant on enemy positioning for their main strength. |

Re: The Book of Quasatch Hunters
Cheddar, I agree that scatter will hurt them in most cases, but it will make it hard for rats to stand their ground against them... which is very relevant if the rats are trying to hold a glyph.
Basically, they seem like an anti-melee melee unit. Ranged commons should usually be able to spread out enough to avoid multiple attacks. |
