The Tragic and Exciting Future of Final Fantasy!

It is truly a tragic future for Final Fantasy. I've heard that the Final Fantasy series will be ending with XV (Fifteen)! SquareEnix plans on making a bunch of games for XIII (Thirteen) to try and drag the series out as long as possible. I have also found evidence of a possible remake for the original Final Fantasy VII (Seven). I found a video on Google of the begining video sequence of FFVII, but remade with better graphics and it shows Cloud jumping off the train first in movie sequence, and when it shows the name of the game, under "Final Fantasy VII" it says "Technical Demo for Ps3" or something like that. It's sad that Final Fantasy is going to end, (sigh).

Hopefully they will eventually make all 15 for one system, (Please god, PC) so i can play them all without buying twelve systems.

That's really why I never got into FF.

Well, even if they do stop making games with "Final Fantasy" in their title, it's not like they're going to stop making games that are, in all other respects, Final Fantasy games.

Look at Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery.

Re: The Tragic and Exciting Future of Final Fantasy!

Final Fantasy is not going to end at XV. It's like Mario ending at Super Mario Galaxy... would it make sense? Sure. But it's quite possibly the stupidest thing that anyone would ever do. Final Fantasy is Square's cash cow, and they're not going to send it to the slaughterhouse.

Yes, they do intend to drag out XIII, in the same way they're dragging out VII. Spin-offs and related items could last up to 20 years, according to Square themselves.

They made that technical demo, like, three years ago. It's not evidence that they're remaking FFVII, though it WOULD make sense, what with it being extremely popular and all.

I heard of it from a Game Stop guy, plus the original creator quit the company, and (in my opinion) the Final Fantasy games are getting less interesting. They have been since he quit. Even the FFVII Compilation series isn't as good as they could've been.

Re: The Tragic and Exciting Future of Final Fantasy!

Yuji Naka left Sonic Team in 1999 (I believe), and Shigeru Miyamoto hasn't designed a Zelda since Link's Awakening. Both series are still going strong year later. Obviously Sonic isn't in his prime anymore, but many consider Zelda's best to be Ocarina of Time, so...

...and, again, it just wouldn't make sense for them to stop making Final Fantasy. It's netted them more money than you can imagine over the years - dropping it would be suicide.

Re: The Tragic and Exciting Future of Final Fantasy!

Final Fantasy has gained more money than Bill Gates has aproximatly, with Final Fantasy VII bringing in the absolute most.
Right?
