Yeah, laying in the weeds for a while then making your big move up in the last round often can work out well. Racing out to an early lead can just get a bullseye on you, then others start working to slow you down and blocking your moves. Like if your strategy is just to send figures to Valhalla and earning off the dead, they'll stop killing your guys when you are in the lead but not if you are in 2nd place.
