Fo Sho
He worked really well for me in an online tournament and then just completely failed when I brought one of my Zemo pods to Gencon.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Green Arrow)
So I've had Green Arrow in a decent number of my games. I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the stronger 150 units. Having the highest range in the game (besides Galactus) makes him an appealing choice. Skill Shot is really, really good in my experience. Forcing 2 fewer defense die 50% of the time is no joke, and you'll usually be rolling 5 attack since you can park him for away on height pretty easily.
His left box is fine, Archer gives him some solid synergies. Kate Bishop's Pinning Shot synergizes well with Skill Shot, letting you really put the opponents defense in the gutter. Red Arrow/Speedy *Roy Harper* are both good partners too, of course. Green Arrow appreciates having Batman *3* around as well, The Brave and The Bold can save your Skill Shot roll, or bump you up to a 20. Green Arrow also splashes really well into a lot of armies if you're looking to fill out that last 150 points, a melee heavy army appreciates having some range, he can provide solid AoE or single target damage, and its easy to keep him away from most units, since defensively he's not great. I really like this guy. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Green Arrow)
You made a lot of the points I would about good pairings (Red Arrow, Batman (III)) but a big thing to point out is his best friend, Black Canary (I).
BC lets you take a turn with her, get a Skill Shot boosted attack in with Green Arrow (assuming he's in range and she's still engaged) and then take a bonding turn with a Sidekick. It's a pretty nice three-pronged assault when you can get it to work. Green Arrow (especially when paired with Black Canary) also really appreciates passive movement to put him in sniping position while Canary takes the lead. One of my favorite builds is: Red Arrow, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Oracle, Robin (Dick Grayson), Martian Manhunter (I). Basically you lead out with Martian Manhunter and wreck havoc and soften up the enemy while passively moving the Archers into sniping positions and moving up Black Canary and Robin if MM's rolling enough blanks. Then at some point you shift over to Canary and Robin engaging enemies, with Robin providing a Decoy to keep Canary around longer and Green Arrow sniping baddies with Cupid's Arrow and following Oracle's Secret Attack Plan. When Martian Manhunter or Black Canary fall, Oracle's Contingency Plan lets you shift to having Green Arrow and Red Arrow tag team enemy figures instead. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Green Arrow)
I ran that army at 700 without MM in my Octopus test Bats, and it is really deadly. Getting so much off of one OM with Canary can really overwhelm the other army, and the Canary/Green combo is pretty bananas on offense. I'll try out the full 1000 point build next time I play.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Green Arrow)
Yeah, Black Canary, Red Arrow, Green Arrow, and Robin do all definitely like stat boosts!

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Hawkgirl)
Hawlgirl is pretty much a torpedo in card form. Hawk Swoop makes her a ridiculously strong attacker, especially combined with her Stealth Flying. Enemy got Deadshot firing at your guys? Fly Hawkgirl at him and cave his face in. She's a pretty simple beater, with clear synergies in the Thanagarian units, as well as the Justice League figures that key off of Warriors.
She's priced a little awkwardly at 225 which can make her tough to splash, but if you think your army really needs some extra oomph, she's probably your best bet in that price range, alongside Aquaman *1* at 230. Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter *2*, Nomad makes a solid and simple 1000 army. You've got 3 very solid fighters, and Nomad provides a bit of AoE or Order Marker denial, depending on which you need more. You only get 4 uses of MM's League Link, so you have to be a little careful about it's use. Besides that, it's primarily you finding the biggest target, and dropping your 3 damage dealers on them. |
