Hey Gang,

White Q Knight and The Obfuscated Hippo are teaming up with Longy418 to bring you a Summer of 'Scape event I'm calling:

Battlegrounds of Blood!



Okay the blood you can figure out - the "Battlegrounds" is a play on the location of our event: Battleground, WA which is about 10 miles North of Vancouver, WA. We tried to get Guardian Games but the M:tG players have a huge pre-release so we were booted.

Fortunately, Longy418 is coming through as our host for the day.

BATTLEGROUNDS OF BLOOD – TRI-POD FORMAT
Half-Army Draft
1. Each player submits three 300-point half-armies (“Pods”). Each Half-Army “Pod” has a maximum of 10 figures. The half-armies may not share any figures.
2. Players may use fractional point values (round up) for squad figures provided that they have at least one full squad.
 For example, Marrden Nagrubs are 30 points for 3 figures. A player could include 50 points of Nagrubs (5 figures) in one of their Pods.

3. SoV/C3V is allowed.

5. Before each game, there will be a dice-off, done by the tournament organizers. The winner of the dice-off chooses first or second choice of half-army.
6. Whoever has first choice may choose any one of the six half-armies (any of their three or any of their opponent's three). The other player then chooses two from the remaining five, and then the first player chooses a second from the remaining three.
7. After the armies have been selected, the player who lost the dice-off decides which player will place his army first.
8. When placing armies, each player's combined army cannot be more than 20-figures in the startzone and a player cannot place two of the same unique card.
9. At some Maps, the organizers may have additional half-armies available that fit a theme or terrain type. Those half-armies are available in addition to the half-armies that players are providing.

If a yellow Marvel glyph is drawn, place that glyph as close to the center of the map as possible. Treat it like any treasure glyph except that common squad figures may pick up the glyph. These Marvel glyphs will add to team victory points. More details at the event.


If a player retains a treasure glyph at the end of a match, they may KEEP that treasure glyph for future games.

A player may have any number of treasure glyphs but they may only have one in play at the start of a match. If a glyph is destroyed or a temporary treasure is used, return it to the event organizer (Kai, obfuscatedhippo).


Also, for these glyphs, I am making the following modifications:

Power:
Glyph of Thorian ("Fog")
Changed from all opponent's figures to ALL figures (yours and your opponent) must be adjacent to your figures to attack with a normal attack. Remove this glyph after it has been in play for a full round (3 turns by each player).

Glyph of Rannveig (Wind)
All figures with the Flying or Stealth Flying special power lose this power and cannot fly while standing on the Glyph. Remove this glyph after it has been in play for a full round (3 turns by each player).

Treasure:
Holy Symbol of Pelor
Permanent Treasure Glyph
This figure adds 1 additional attack dice when attacking an Undead or Demon figure with a normal attack. When the 20-sided die is rolled for a special power on an opponent's Undead or Demon Army Card and at least one of the figures from that Army Card is within 2 clear sight spaces of the figure with this treasure, subtract 2 from the die roll.

Oceanstrider Amulet
Permanent Treasure Glyph
While this figure is on a water space, add 2 to its Defense. If this figures starts its turn on a water space, add 1 to its movement that turn. This figures does not have to stop its movement when entering a water space.

Gem of Lava Resistance "Brandar's Treasure"
Permanent Treasure Glyph
This figure never rolls for molten lava damage or lava field damage, and they do not have to stop on molten lava spaces. If this figures starts its turn on a molten lava space, add 1 to its movement that turn.

Vermilyion has something for work and doesn't think he can make it. Outside chance he does but I wouldn't count him as likely.
