Master of the Hunt Pre-Release Discussion Thread

Mortal Strike: After attacking an opponent's Unique Hero with this Master of the Hunt's normal attack, roll 1 attack die for each wound inflicted in that attack. For each additional skull rolled, place 1 additional wound marker on the defending figure's Army Card.

Javelin: After moving and before attacking with this Master of the Hunt, you may roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 16 or higher, add 3 to this Master of the Hunt's Range value for the duration of its turn.

Could be a good Q9 cracker, because he just has to get one solid hit in to do some more damage. Also is really good against low-defense, high-life figures. Sorry elves.

He's interesting but Kaemon seems superior. Kaemon does have lower Life but also has superior guaranteed range, counterstrike, lower cost, and double attack without having to inflict wounds to add damage.

He can though join WSG as a Counterdraft against the popular Elf Wizard armies.

Does every single hero have to be compared to Kaemon Awa?

The Master of the Hunt couldn't have less in common with the counterstriking archer hero. Who, incidentally, is an A level figure, and if everything coming out was that good then we would definitely be seeing power creep.

...

I really like the Mortal Strike mechanic. I think he'll be able to do a *lot* of damage with it, and he looks pretty durable with his 6 life and 4 defense. The javelin is bonus, when it works. I see him as a much improved (and more expensive) Valguard.

Plus he's a lefty.

Re: Master of the Hunt Pre-Release Discussion Thread

With a range of 4 (75% of the time) MotH Man looks like he'll have to be played with a slow-rolling melee screen to be effective. I'd like to try him in an all-disciplined Einar build:
AE 110
Parmenio 90
MotH 140
SB x3 150
Isamu 10
500

Another part of me wonders how well he'd work with the Mezzodemons behind the front line with the Mezzodemons targeting commons at a range of 4 while MotH Man goes after heroes.

Talk about Hydra counter!!!

...or any other low-life hero. One lucky attack could be Q9's death sentence.

Most Heroes are not compared to Kaemon. For example, this Wave I have not seen Moltenclaw, Ogre Pulverizer, Siege, etc compared to him.

In this case it makes sense though. Their costs are semi close, are the same size, have 4/4 attack/defense, and can both attack at 7 range. Even their themes are sort of similar and they belong to the same general.

I'm not really sure I understand Mortal Strike. Is it like the protectors? It seems like the way it's worded that you'd have to have a second attack for this to work. Sorry but i just don't get it..........

So you attack Q9 with MotH, got that. If you inflict one wound, roll 1 die. It it is a skull, add another wound. It would inflict 2 wounds, roll 2 die, how ever many skulls you roll are extra wounds....etc. Get it?

Re: Master of the Hunt Pre-Release Discussion Thread

Roll an attack. Do 3 wounds. For each of those wounds, you roll dice. In this case, it would be 3. For each skull you roll, it is an unblockable hit on the opponents figure.
