Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
Got to play some more scenarios today. I also added another character to my party:
Spoiler Alert!
I also have a few questions: 1) How are Skill Points used? Do I use them to purchase different skills and such? 2) If I Summon a certain being, I get to take a turn with it, correct? Is that how spell points work too? |

Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
I still have not been able to test out a scenario yet, but I am hoping to get the chance within the next week. However, I was able to design my first character in preparation. Here's how he turned out:
Warforged White Mage/ Lv.1 Life: 2 Move: 4 Range: 2 (with spear) Attack: 2 (with spear) Defense: 3 (with chain mail armor) Initiative: -1 Daily magic spell points: 3 Primary Schools of Magic: Healing, Summoning, Evocation Skills: Warforged Resolve Spells: Magic Missile Items: Chain Mail Armor, Spear, Blank Spellbook, Backpack Gold: 13 Oh, and I came up with one question. Is there supposed to be a limit on the amount of equipment a character can carry at one time? |

Once you use a skill point, you lose that skill point and gain that skill (or gain 3 daily spell points, if you use your skill point for spell points). My first level dwarf learned Spiral Slash Special Attack. My son's 1st level ranger learned Improved Accuracy. I have a monk character I'm creating that has chosen the Relentless Dragon Style. He can't use his level 1 skill point yet because he's going to learn Triple Attack at second level (Triple Attack costs 2 skill points). 2) It takes a full turn to summon a hero or squad. On the wizard's next turn, he can take a turn himself or he can take a turn with the summoned hero or squad. He could even summon more figures on his turn and then the following turn he could take a turn with all the figures he summoned. But it takes a whole turn to summon a hero or squad. |

I was going to make some rules about carrying items, but I didn't want to get too complex to start with. I did put in some rules for how much gold you can carry in sacks and backpacks. I suggest that you use your own judgement about carrying things. A figure could probably carry several weapons in his hands, but he would have to drop them to fight. In the future I'll probably add some carrying rules. If you have suggestions, I'll add them to the rules. |

Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
Thanks for clarifying on the Skill Points. My Dwarf is pretty sweet so far, and I just gave him Frenzy!
As for carrying, I'm just letting my heroes carry however much they can get. I'd suggest setting max amounts of certain things a character can carry. Today my characters got up to Level 3 (Halfling), Level 3 (Elf), and Level 2 (Dwarf). I'm noticing that it gets so much easier once you make it to Level 2. I can easily take down 4-5 uncommons and a couple unique heroes per scenario now. Oh, I should mention something - Since I'm playing it in an "open-world" style, I made some special rules for the enemies. Basically, an enemy figure needs line of sight on any of my characters in order to take a turn. This way it adds a little more strategy to my attack plan. EDIT: Quick question - When learning new spells, do I need to learn them in order (IE: Summon Type 1, Summon Type 2, etc)? Like, if I decide to learn Summon Type 3 without knowing Type 1 and 2, can I still Summon Type 1 and 2 units? Last edited by 'Scaper94; October 9th, 2011 at 03:25 PM. |

Only the skills have prerequisites. In our home game, I'm thinking of limiting what spells are available for purchase. I don't intend to have many high level NPCs (non-player characters) in the game, so there would be no one from whom they could buy high level spells. They are going to have to travel to find a magic teacher who will teach them the new spells, or they will have to find an ancient library or copy spells from scrolls they find. Once again we didn't get to play Legends of Scape this weekend--too much science fair stuff. Maybe next weekend. |

Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
SUMMONING
A note about the Summoning Tables. Some of the figures on that list are my home custom figures. To generate your own lists, use this formula: Type I 5-40 points Type II 45-80 points Type III 85-120 points Type IV 125-160 points Type V 165-200 points Type VI 200 points The Control Number is the number listed to the right of the hero or squad on the summoning table. Animals are easiest to control, followed by elementals, and monsters. Humanoids, Dragons, and Viranti are harder to control. (For information on Viranti, see my D&D cards link in my signature. Demons and devils would fall into the Viranti catagory.) Also, control gets hard the higher that figure's Type. |

Thanks for answering my question(s)! That spell clarification saved my character about 70 gold!

Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
I played through my first two scenarios today. Here are the summaries for how they went:
Scenario One: A horned skull brute warlord has gathered together a band of foul creatures. The war band is advancing on one of the Empire's villages. My Warforged White Mage and a squad of the Empire's soldiers (roman legionnaires) are sent to oppose this threat. After slaying many orcs, all of the Empire's soldiers lay dead. My WWM resists for a bit longer, but eventually surrenders knowing that he will soon be overwhelmed. The horned skull brute warlord takes the WWM as a prisoner because he hopes to extract information on using spells from him. Character gains 80 XP Scenario Two: After pillaging the village, the war band attempts to flee across the Empire's borders. Three squads of the Empire's soldiers catch the war band at a frozen river crossing. A large scale battle ensues in which both sides suffer heavy casualties. However, the war band and the horned skull brute warlord are both wiped out. The Empire's soldiers escort my WWM back home as thanks for his assistance during the fight. Character gains 118 XP and 29 gold. |

How did the WWM do in battle? Did the Legends of Scape rules work well? I'm looking to hear more reports! (I've been helping my kids with sports and science fair, so no Legends of Scape recently. ) |

Re: Legends of Scape (RPG)
I haven't played much LoS recently. It kinda inspired me to make my own RPG (Elder Scrolls-ish), so I've busy with that. Not to mention schoolwork.
