I agree on both points. Also, did you hear that they're making a sequel to ToS?

The Halo 3 Believe commercial. It's not really sad, just makes me all tingly inside.

If video games make you sad then you really need to get out more.

A friend of mine told me he kept reloading his game because he thought he had to do something there. That whole game is full of crazy moments, they really did a good job. Now, if we could get some Co-op play, and tone down the rate of enemies on some Veteran stages, the next game will be AMAZING!

Huggable Zombie, KingArthur1976, Utgarsrage, and Scapegeek are all great traders.

You could say the same thing about a movie, except a video game can grow onto you more in some cases because you're actually part of it.

Ah....that's the key. I was wondering why so many have been so moved by games and I haven't been. Difference of perception. I rarely, if ever, think of myself as part of the game while playing. I play like a pupppet master, manipulating my little virtual avatar through his/her adventure. When I play as Lara Croft or Master Chief or Solid Snake, I don't see myself as BEING them, just as GUIDING them. Even in a more customizable game like Rock Band where I can make my own character, I don't make someone that is supposed to be me.

I suppose if more people are really projecting themselves into the game, it would be a lot sadder, even moreso than a movie. If you are not projecting into the game, then a movie or book or play or tv show will liekly be sadder as the writing is usually better and the characters more well-developed.

I was surprise to find that I was saddened by this game.

Passage.

It will only take 5 mins to play it. Try it for yourself and see if you get as moved by it as I did.

Anyway....sad games. I can't think of any off the top of my head. I've played scary games, or shocking games, or funny games, but not a whole lot of true sadness. I think it's really tough to design a game in which the players truly connect with the characters on an emotional level. Most games your allies are just meat shields or blundering idiots that get in the way, and any princess-type character you need to rescue is just a vague goal that justifies further game levels.

Some folks might say Bioshock is sad. I suppose it could be, but I find it's hard to connect to the creepy little girls enough to care what happens to them. Perhaps I need to play thorugh more of the game. I haven't beat it yet.

If you mean when Johnson and Keys die yea

I know Chief doesn't die. I never said he did. I said I started the game assuming everyone was going to die EXCEPT Chief and Arbiter.

And you don't have to beat the game on Legendary to see that he survives. Any difficulty shows Cortana putting him in hypersleep and the two of them chatting and floating in space, Legendary just shows a few seconds more at the end and makes it clear that they are drifting towards some sort of planet.
Sorry I meant to quote Nooblar, I just went back and quoted the first person I saw that said Halo

I've beat Halo 3 several times (not on legendary yet though) and have not gotten to see this final cutscene.

I watch the funural, and then the screen "Thanks for Playing comes up", and then it goes back to the main menu. I don't get it

Either you have a busted game or you are doing something wrong. Don't touch ANYTHING during the credits and cutscenes. They are long, but wait it out. It should not go back to the main menu. As the credits end you will see a cutscene of Cortana and Chief in the wreckage. They chat for a while and then he goes to sleep. Legendary will add a few seconds more showing the planet he is drifting towards, but it's a very minor addition. I have beat the campaign on Heroic (haven't chugged my way thorugh all of Legendary yet) and I got the Cortana/Chief ending just fine, right after the credits.

Re: Saddest Video Game Moment Ever?

A sad one for me was the ending of Steamboat Chronicles (course I only got one of several) where Vanilla has to get on a boat and leave all his new friends behind and there's this real nostalgic music playing and yeah sad stuff...
