The Book of Sadako Yamamura
The Book of Sadako Yamamura C3G DARK HORSE SUPER SECRET EXCLUSIVE 97 CREEPSHOW Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a modified Heroclix figure from the Justice League: Trinity War set. Its model number and name are #023 / Madame Xanadu. Tutorial on How to Paint/Mod this Figure _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - After being left for dead at the bottom of an old well and sealed inside, her animosity and desire for revenge causes her spirit to manifest through a video tape left in a building built over the well. Those that watch the tape view a montage of strange images related to Sadako's life, and upon the video's completion, receive a phone call through which Sadako's voice tells the viewer that he or she has seven days to live. Sadako will then emerge at the end of the seventh day through a television screen or other reflective surface, and kill the victim with psychic terror. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

NAME = SADAKO YAMAMURA
SPECIES = UNDEAD UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = SLASHER PERSONALITY = VENGEFUL SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 7 MOVE = 3 RANGE = 2 ATTACK = 2 DEFENSE = 2 POINTS = 200 7 DAYS Start the game with Sadako on this card and choose a Hero to be the Viewer. The Viewer is the only figure Sadako may attack. When the Viewer is destroyed, destroy Sadako. Once per round, at the start of your player turn, you may place Sadako on an empty space 2 spaces away from the Viewer. VIDEO CURSE Before Sadako attacks, if the Viewer is within 2 spaces of her, it must roll the 20-sided die twice, receiving a wound for each roll of 7 or lower. MIND-SHATTERING PRESENCE After an Order Marker is revealed, all figures other than Constructs, destructible objects, Slashers, Tormentors, or Undead that are currently within 2 spaces of Sadako must subtract 2 from their Move and Defense numbers, and any 20-sided die rolls, until the next Order Marker is revealed. UNDEAD RESILIENCE If Sadako receives two or more wounds from a single attack but is not destroyed, you may immediately remove up to two of those wounds. Figure Tutorial:
This one is pretty simple. You start off with the Madame Xanadu heroclix. You cut off the back part of her hair that hangs down. For the rest, use the final image below for reference... Glue that on the front underneath her chin. You can trim off her breasts to make it fit more flat against her chest. Trim the hair on the sides as needed to make it seem pretty flush/streamlined with her head as if it were coming down over her face. Paint black over her face, leaving an eye exposed, and try to blend it with the glued on hair. Then you just paint her dress a dirty white, including adding sleeves, and her feet flesh colored. I’d prefer ‘Opponent’s Unique or Event Hero’ over ‘Opponent’s figure’ just to avoid some weird case where you have to track a single squad figure through the whole game.

Eh, if someone wants to draft a 200 point figure with the purpose of chasing down a single squad figure they can go for it. No sense adding words for something that should never logically occur.

I might just say "Hero" instead of "figure". I don't think squads/commons matter since yeah, why would you do that to yourself anyway, but you could pick a DO as-is. Which I don't think is a mechanical problem, just might feel weird.

The Seventh Day should probably specify "up to" 2 wound markers removed, just in case she doesn't have 2 on her card. I'm assuming she takes LEAs when placed with that power, since it's not specified that she doesn't?
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Being able to engage her with other figures and take swipes seems like a viable counter strategy. Gets rough, of course, if she hits her Mind-Shattering Presence with regularity, but at least you'll still get the swipes.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Yeah, she'll be an interesting one to test. I expect initials to give a good idea if there's tweaks needed to make sure she's not so easily countered, but not too powerful. Noticed I forgot to adjust MSP to "lower than 7" rather than "7 or lower". I think with Leprechaun adding/subtracting up to 2 to d20 rolls for the faction, probably best to bring it down by 1.

With this one being one I feel some hands on time was needed just to be sure no major changes were going to be made in initials, I went ahead and played 2 games to get a feel for her.
Only adjustment made is allowing her healing even after death, to bring her back to life once she is completely healed up. In both games, she was killed in 1 player turn when the opponent focused their attacks on her, so it seemed appropriate to give her a return if enough turns pass to bring her back to put the pressure back on. Overkill wounds will extend how long it takes her to return, making big hitters all the better at keeping her out. I have updated the SP accordingly, and I will post those results with the initials. I propose a vote to move to Initial Playtesting. |
