Normal edge of map rules apply. Nothing in the space rules create a void of emptiness, even if it'd be thematic. Being able to completely remove enemy figures from the battlefield that easily just wouldn't be any fun.

I have figure testing forms and map testing forms, is their a new rules specific testing form you want me to fill out for the play test? Anything specific you want to see covered or not covered here with my tests? How creative do you want the map to be? I can try just the space mat all by itself, a few objects placed on it, or something like Quozl suggested where most of the map is the inside of a spaceship or something with only part of the map being outer space.

1. I'd just use a figure testing form like I did, since I think we're all most used to using those at this point.

2. I don't need blow-by-blow or anything, just summary of how it felt and how you felt the rules influenced the game play and mostly if everything worked/was fun/was easy enough to implement and understand.

3. When it comes to the map, just build it like you think you'd want to use Outer Space. You might experiment with a couple of different builds. I'm of the mind that the rules pop more with more wide open space, but you may feel differently, so feel free to mess around and see what works for you.

We're hosting Christmas here this year and the table I use for testing is needed, so I'm not sure if I'll get the tests done before Christmas or not. I'll try to squeeze them in before I have to break down the table or maybe after I've set the table up somewhere else I'll still be able to use if for a quick test if I keep the map very simple. I also need a rules clarification before I start though.


Was planing on doing some theme appropriate games and of course the GotG are being considered. I was going to use Rocket II and wondered how the space map might impact his use of the remote detonated bombs. As he drops those glyphs on the map after moving, will they just stay in place or will they float around? Could be kind of cool if their was a way to 'push' them towards an opponents position and blow them up once they get next to someone. I don't see glyphs mentioned at all in the rules and wasn't sure if it was discussed or just not thought about. Would impact things like the Fear Gas glyph too.

Glyph movement got scrapped when we streamlined out pull of gravity stuff so it’s not there as of now.

Okay. That's a bit unfortunate since bombs or a cloud of fear gas floating around space seem like a fun thing to incorporate. Even if it requires some action or cost to 'push' them in a direction before they will move. I'll just play them as staying put though. Would a glyph stop the floating in straight line movement of a figure then? I know in the classic rules you are suppose to stop all movement when moving onto a glyph but I can't recall if we made exceptions in C3G.

OUTER SPACE TERRAIN RULES

Outer Space Terrain rules include rules for a new terrain type called Cosmos spaces. Outer Space Terrain rules should be used with the Cosmic Space Mat and other Outer Space battlefields, as specified in their map threads.

Cosmos Spaces

Cosmos spaces are 0 height.

When a non-flying figure enters a Cosmos Space during their normal movement they can only move in a straight line and must continue moving in this manner until one of the following is true:

• all of their available movement is used,
• they move onto a space of a different terrain type, or
• they cannot legally occupy the next space.

Exposure Damage

At the end of each round, roll one unblockable attack die for exposure damage against each figure you control occupying a Cosmos space that has at least one Wound and that is not a Construct, Destructible Object, or Event Hero. If the figure has Super Strength, it receives a wound on a blank instead of a skull.

Round 1 Summary: JL wins initiative and everyone moves toward the center most landmass, Superman helps a brotha out by carrying Batman. Batman and John both attempt shots on each other but are blocked.

No exposure damage at this time.

Round 2 Summary: GL wins initiative. Wonder Woman removes a marker to boost her buds. Kilowog removes a lantern marker boosting his officers. Kilowog swings on Superman after he swoops in to protect Batman, dealing no damage. Superman lands a shot on Kilowog for a wound. Hal Jordan comes in with a monster swing hitting Superman for 3 wounds. Superman is pushed into Batman and they both receive a wound from knockback. John strikes Batman and is blocked and takes a wound from Martial Artist.

No exposure damage at this time… again.

Round 3 Summary: JL wins initiative. Wonder Woman removes a marker again. Superman attempts a strike on John but receives a wound instead. Kilowog tries to hit Superman, is blocked but knocks him off the rock everyone is standing on. Wonder Woman moves on Kilowog dealing a couple of wounds and knocking him back a space. Batman hits John for 1 wound. Wonder Woman switches places with Batman to block an attack from John only to be crushed with an all skulls roll of 7. She is down for the count.

Superman avoids exposure damage.

Round 4 Summary: GL wins initiative. Hal punches Batman off the rock for 2 wounds. Superman zooms back into the fight landing a solid hit on Kilowog ending him. Superman swaps places with Batman and takes a wound. Superman hits Hal for 2 wounds, but Hal stands his ground.

No exposure damage.

Round 5 Summary: GL wins initiative. Superman block a heavy attack from Hal. Hal attempts a reckless charge and fails. An all out brawl occurs on this rock, no wounds for received by anyone. Hal was repeatedly attacked and has exhausted his last Green Lantern Marker.

No exposure damage.

Round 6 Summary: GL wins initiative. Batman blocks an attack from Hal and Hal gets spanked by Superman. Batman tries to hit John but receives a wound instead, Batman falls. Same for Superman. John had his ace in the hole. Just like Hal, John exhausted his markers in the process, winning the game.

Unit Summary: Movement was not too much of a factor here with all the high flying heroes. Exposure damage was nonexistent.(only rolled 1 time for Superman and it was a skull) The threat of exposure on the other hand was very real. The heroes were battling it out in the middle of the map on a 7-hex piece trying to stay on top of solid ground. The thought of heroes duking it out and knocking each other out into space is awesome. The fact that you have to make a choice, do I stay here and fight or do I risk it and try to make this jump out in space to the next rock. It was exciting.

• COSMOS MOVEMENT: Not really limiting in this game, aside from the fact that no one wanted to make the long jump to another landmass for fear of exposure.
• EXPOSURE DAMAGE: Rolled 1 time for Superman, he got lucky and it was skull.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Green Lantern(John Stewart) with 2/4 Life wins.

Round 1 Summary: X-Men win initiative. A lot of crazy straight line movement for any solid ground the heroes can find. No action as of yet.

No exposure damage at this time.

Round 2 Summary: Avengers win initiative. Hawkeye takes a shot at Cyclops and misses. Colossus floats all the way over to Hawkeye and hits him for 1 wound. Iron Man flies over Cap and hits Cyclops for 3 wounds. Wolverine floats into the middle catching 2 wounds from War Machine.

Cyclops and Hawkeye suffer 1 wound from exposure.

Round 3 Summary: X-Men win initiative. Cyclops takes a shot on Cap and misses, Storm moves up and Colossus lands a small hit on Hawkeye launching him back. Storm takes a wound from Cap. Storm takes 4 wounds and is down from a really sad defensive roll against Iron Man.

Hawkeye is destroyed by exposure damage.

Round 4 Summary: Avengers win initiative. Cap hits Wolverine for 1 wound. Cyclops obliterates Iron Man with his Optic Destruction, War Machine on the other hand blocks all damage. Colossus floats past Cap taking a wound. No one lands any hits for the remainder of the round.

Colossus avoids exposure damage.

Round 5 Summary: Avengers win initiative. Cap decides to risk it and runs avoiding an attack from Wolverine. Cap lets his shield rip and takes Cyclops down. War Machine is not as lucky when he takes off, he receives a wound from Colossus. War Machine deals 2 wounds to Wolverine with his Rockets. Wolverine hits Cap for 3 wounds with his Berserker Rage. Cap returns the favor landing 2 wounds on Wolverine. Colossus tries to make his way to solid ground, can’t seem to find his footing.

Colossus avoids exposure damage.

Round 6 Summary: X-Men win initiative. Cap is down for the count thanks to Wolverine. War Machine and Colossus swing on each other neither landing a blow. Wolverine luckily floats his way right next to War Machine and lands a wound taking 2 wounds himself from Auto Chain Gun. Wolverine takes 3 wounds from a solid roll by War Machine.

Wolverine takes a wound from exposure while Colossus avoids it.

Round 7 Summary: Last of the Avengers Squad wins initiative. War Machine misses his shot and is taken out by Wolverine. The X-Men win.

Unit Summary: This was a goofier match than the first one. It was fun to have the heroes kinda floating in different directions trying to find their way. Exposure damage was a factor in this game, had a few heroes take wounds. It felt right to see the non-flying heroes struggling while the fliers had the superior maneuverability. There were times when you had to line up your next move so you would land where you wanted. Overall I think this is a great addition to the game. I really really enjoyed this. The rules are easy to comprehend and a fun map to mess around with.

• COSMOS MOVEMENT: Colossus was the main hero to struggle with maneuverability. There were a couple of times where the non-flyers took a little longer to reach their destination than usually. It was hilarious imagining Cap punch Colossus as he floats past uncontrollably.
• EXPOSURE DAMAGE: Cyclops received a wound from exposure. Hawkeye received 2 wounds and ultimately succumbed to exposure. Wolverine received a wound from exposure. Colossus avoids exposure damage.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Wolverine with 1/6 Life and Colossus with 5/6 Life wins.
