Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
She's a solid beatstick, but, even more important, she's a reliable source of auto-wounds with much greater upside, which fills a fairly significant need in the Mutant faction. Auto-wounds are hugely valuable in the metagame and her cost, while not cheap, is not bad either for what she has to offer.
4/A C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
I used to use her quite a bit. She’s ok. I think she struggles to do anything exceptionally better than her many peers that are cheaper. You can get better auto-wounding, attack power, and defensive counters from others, unless you get super lucky and hit an auto-destroy.

Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
Yeah, I'm surprised she's an A to anyone. Not a figure I use much, I've found her underwhelming. Not really taken with the d20 power, and there are other, cheaper MMA figures.

What do you all feel are the better auto-wounding options in faction?

Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
Jean, Phoenix, Nightcrawler(KD), and Shadowcat (AoA) come to mind first and foremost. Archangel if you have an extra 10 points.
Bailey, Pyro, Quentin, Scarlet(II), Strong Guy, Sunfire, and possibly Toad. Those are just auto-wounders though. If we’re talking generally being more useful and beneficial/reliable, there’s plenty more that could be named. |

Phoenix and AoA Nightcrawler are better around that cost.

Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
Also worth pointing out on the calculator her stats are 130. Do you feel you’re really getting 120 points out of her auto-wounding and MMA? You can only use one of them on her turn, neither of which are better than what you can get from figures cheaper than her. Defensively if the opponent has range, a special attack, or auto-wounding of their own it’s moot.
You’re paying purely for the long shot 5% chance auto destroy, which in itself isn’t that worth it to bank on given it’s often quicker to just deal the wounds out straight up. So all in all she could be about 40 points cheaper and I wouldn’t find that crazy. |

Interestingly
Her best pairing is actually going to be the new Fate.

Re: C3G Strategy Discussion - Psylocke
Yeah, I tested that a time or two when running his initials I believe. Definitely fun to fish for a 20 when you know it'll result in an auto-destroy once you've got it. I recall losing those matches since you're basically banking on netting it, but still decent on paper none the less.
I've found her in Magneto II + Destiny and Sage builds to be of similar mindset, as you can get it down to a 16 or higher, but even still, generally putting all your eggs in that basket is only worth so much. |
