Demon Species is a specific workaround for casting the Hellfire Spells and similar things. That way they can cast those as like a demonic boon, but if they overextended they take hellfire damage because it's demons and they ultimately just want souls and don't care whose souls.

I almost left the Demons off but that is where they are sapping the power from and I thought the Demon thing was a fun interaction even though most Demons would just straight up ignore that wound, butni could probably be convinced to cut the out.

They can already cast the Hellfire spells without being Demons, though. The only thing being a Demon does is protect them from taking damage after casting a Hellfire spell, which seems contradictory to what you're saying here about them taking damage from overextending.

Have we converted any Hellfire spells for 2.0 yet?

No...and I guess I have a flat tire here cause I don't know how to handle this because shifting the bonding thing to the demon takes like all the flavor IMO so they need...something and I don't like just the d20 thing.

I do want to say that I'm not getting the behind the scenes leader thing from reading the card anyway. I assumed you wanted them on the front line to be able to sacrifice people to power up your demons?

What's the strategy with the sacrifice as it is in the OP? Just to summon Dormammu faster? What's the benefit of placing them on a card?

A future planned interaction with Chthon that is not fully formulated yet but was gonna get some kind of bonus for figures on his card to manifest/possess figures on the battlefield.

Gotcha. I think if that's their biggest ability, they're probably not going to "pop" until they have figures around who want to play off of it.

CEREMONIAL CASTING
When casting spells, Darkholder may reroll 1 combat die or add 1 to any d20 roll for each other Cultist you control within 3 clear spaces of Darkholder, to a max of 3.

A little bit of both, but primarily the cult trying to bring back the power of the Darkhold, yes.

Looks cool. I almost feel like there should be a "price" for using dark magic to that extent, though? So I could see bringing back some of the damage dice aspects you had in an earlier pitch.
