A move created by Alpha Flight where someone (usually Puck) throws someone into the melee of battle. Appears later in the X-Men where Wolverine is thrown by Colossus.

That's not the point. I can go pick up someone at school and go "fastball special" and throw them. They will have absolutely no idea what is going on. In the end it will be a failed attempt and they would probably be wounded at the end. I agree that it can be done with others, its just most effective with Wolverine.

When one superhero throws another into battle. Usually Colossus and Wolverine, though I know the Thing has thrown Wolvie and called it a fastball special and I could swear I've seen Jubilee thrown and it's been called a Fastball special

Edit: Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Sabertoth and Blink did a fastball special in the Age of Apocalypse

I always thought the X-Men created it. The first appearance of it is in Uncanny 100 back in 1976 when Colossus pitches Wolverine. Alpha Flight wasn't introduced until issue 120 in 1979. Did somebody come along and rewrite comic history to make it an Alpha Flight maneuver? I hate it when they do that. It'll always be an X-Men standard to me! The line is drawn here! They can't have it! The Fastball special is for X-Men! No matter what other heroes copy it! I don't care if Chris Claremont himself says that The Fastball Special was a move invented by Stan Lee where Spidey pitched Aunt May into battle in the impossible to find issue number 1 of The Amazing Spider-Aunt circa 1975! Sorry. Lost it there for minute. I'm better now.

I think they explained it in a later issue. Heard of the Alpha Flight bit awhile ago...could be an issue (no pun intended) of me misunderstanding it too.
