Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

Watched The Force Awakens tonight with my wife and daughters. It was their first time seeing it and my second, as I saw it at the theater with friends.

I liked it better this time. Still some things were cheezy, but I just looked at it as a fun romp, and not take it too seriously.

My wife has seen all the others and said this one was better than she expected. I showed her the trailer for Rogue One, but she isn't interested in an off-shoot version. But who knows in time.

My girls had seen 4,5,6, but that was awhile ago. They liked this one okay, but aren't overly excited about Star Wars in general. They do love the superhero movies and TV shows, so that's good, considering those are my interests.

I had enjoyed Star Wars in general, but never crossed into the big fan level of reading the books, comics or getting into the animated shows or video games.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

I am in the same boat.
I have enjoyed the little I have seen of the animated features. I need to commit to watching them someday.
I think we sit in the prime spot for the new movies. We know them well enough to enjoy them without being overly critical.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

Yeah, that's where I'm at too. Rogue One will probably be a rental for me, though, if that. I don't see getting all that interested in the spin-off/side movies.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

While my wife isn't interested in Rogue One, I'm way interested. I am a fan of infiltration and spy type stuff, so it seems right up my alley.

Ditto.

However I now find myself in an X-Wing gaming league at my FLGS hanging out with guys half my age (some even younger than my 21 y/o grand-daughter), who HAVE read ALL the books and comics, seen ALL the animated shows, and played ALL the video games, while growing up in the Star Wars Era.

X-Wing is fun. I'm not in a league, but play it casually once in awhile.

I also have a bunch of youngsters 30 and younger in my gaming group that have read all the books, comics and played the video games and watched the animated shows. A buddy of mine is 40 and his young boys are raised/brainwashed into the Star Wars world he loves.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon.
If you are if-y on the Transformers but love Shai, this movie is for you. See Shai try to get a job in the real world.

Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Surprised it took me so long to see this one. No Shai and featuring the Dino-Bots(Grimlock was my favorite Transformer as a kid).
Dinos barely make it in the movie. The whole franchise has been a bot of a bummer.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

Watched Mad Max Fury Road with my wife today. She had picked that and The Force Awakens up on Friday.

As mentioned previously TFA was enjoyed by the kids and wife, as it was their first time seeing it. The kids weren't interested in Fury Road, so just me and my wife. I had seen it before and was excited about seeing it again. I was surprised that my wife choose this movie, as it's not her typical type of movie. Well, I was still tensed up as before with the chases and action. She sat through it all, but afterwards said, "That was stupid."

Oh well, I never thought she'd watch it in the first place, but at least she gave it a try. Probably too much weirdness for her sensibilities.

I think I watched Fury Road something like 5 times in one year, that movie never gets old, but I can seen how its not for everyone.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

My dad and friends all loved Fury Road. I thought it looked great but was unimpressed otherwise.

I saw Troll 2 with a bunch of friends yesterday. It was a wonderfully bad "horror" movie.
