Funny how the artist's rendering makes her look so cool, while the actual figure looks like Raelin is riding some sort of cutesy bat/tiger hybrid. Maybe we could go with

The image of the painted Raelin really betrays the fact that she's painted grey plastic. She appears to be at least three molds assembled together, why not make at least the kitty out of orange plastic?
(Gray is still way better than the Haslab Valkyrie-colored minis).

Edit: Searching this wiki's web page for "mechanical" shows zero results. The newest version of Raelin might have different looking wings, but a quick look into the HS Compendium says nothing about Kyrie wings being "mechanical".

I have to wonder if perhaps the AoA sculpt may not have originally been intended to depict Raelin, but rather some other, new, Kyrie character, then at some point got repurposed as Evil Raelin. And either nobody noticed, or nobody cared, that the wings were wrong for her character. Or, they intended to explain it in the bio but that intent got lost in the shuffle. It's a shame, because I would have liked a new version of Raelin that actually looked like Raelin. (And a new Shiori that wasn't retconned to be a quasi-wizard.)

As for why she's not riding Mimring, they pretty much had to break with canon on that because it would have been too messy gameplay-wise to make a single figure that counted as both Raelin and Mimring for uniqueness. (Not to mention the complaints if none of Mimring's characteristics were represented in the abilities.)

They've had how many years now to get this all figured out? When a person has the kind of attachment to Heroscape where canon and lore and mythological awareness matter just as much as good gameplay, it's pretty hard to watch the storytelling side of the design triangle get crushed under the wheels like this. Good gravy, it's not that hard to get these things right if somebody cares to get it right.

Come on, man. Do you really look at old Raelin's wings and think they're organic? But even if you do, the point here is that the new ones are radically different and there doesn't seem to be any attempt to address it. As if nobody noticed. Hey, maybe there should be a new DW9K with a human head that nobody mentions. Innovation!

C3V and SoV had to make sculpt compromises (for obvious reasons), but brand-new official Scape shouldn't have to do that.

A single figure is not required (as I mentioned elsewhere). Borrowing from myself, and using Raelin SotM as a model, We could go with this:

While opponents' figures are within 6 clear sight spaces of Raelin the Kyrie Warrior, they lower their defense value by 1.

DRAGON RIDER
If Mimring is in your army, and Raelin the Kyrie Warrior is unengaged and adjacent to Mimring, instead of moving Raelin the Kyrie Warrior normally, you may move Mimring 6 spaces. After moving Mimring, place Raelin the Kyrie Warrior adjacent to Mimring. Raelin the Kyrie Warrior may then attack normally.

WHIRLING LANCE
Raelin the Kyrie Warrior may attack any or all figures adjacent to her. In addition, if a figure is within 2 spaces of Raelin the Kyrie Warrior, and its base is no more than 1 level above or 1 level below her base, Raelin the Kyrie Warrior may add 1 to her Range when attacking that figure. Roll each attack separately.

P.S.: There are countless extra Raelin SotM fgures lying around. Many have already been repainted red. chas has one. A C3V repaint, perhaps?
