I decided to re-visit some of my previous entries. What you have here are the four previous entries of mine that at least mentioned Nilfheim re-written from Nilf's perspective.
So four short stories with the original story linked in the title of each.
All together under 3000 words combined for all eight.

Through Nilfheim's Eyes, The King Dragon's Verison

Seek and Destroy

"Nilfheim. Sweep Thaelek." Jandar's orders were simple.
No response was given.

Wings sing producing chilling gusts of thrust, sending the dragon king skyward.

He enjoyed the artic wastes, adopting them as his own and was eager to return to them. Utgar's defilements were growing more frequent and to make matters worse they were orcs. Their smell was brutal and lingered on the snow like old fish. It was all their undoing.

All but one. A stranger in a strange land. Adapting quickly he survived by finding a friend in a glacial swog and made it its mount. He covered much area and managed to abolish his scent. Nilfheim had spared him and named him Grizz.

A rancid scent waifs on fresh drifts of alabaster twinkling in the sunshine.
The dragon climbs higher circling around to find his prey using the sun as a shield.

Fate spooks the swogs but it is too late. Nilfheim rains icy hell from above. Frozen death in the form of icy breath sprays and slays the sickly soft shells.

Once virgin snow was now cream glazed with crimson as orc blood congeals in the frigid air. Time to inspect the corpses. What is this? "Old Grizzly." Nilfheim contemplated as he spied the orc rush out of the white like a thief in the night snatching up one orc that apparently survived destruction.

"Well now, this just got interesting. Where you going Grizz?" Nilfheim pretends not to notice the fleeing duo and heads off behind a mountain range before returning to pick up their trail. Grizz was good but the extra load was slowing him down and he was not covering tracks.
Ahead a crevice cleaves its way through a shelf of ice, creating a chasm large enough for even Nilfheim to enter. Deep inside lies a prize. A Wellspring.

Now Nilfheim understood. Grizz was attempting to heal the other orc with the Wellspring. Nilf has other intentions and lands on the far side of the Wellspring as Grizz lowers his companion into unfrozen waters.
Chomp. Chomp.

Claiming the Wellspring for himself, Nilfheim seals the entrance with his frosty breath.

The Fall of Dragons

Time passes and many more are summoned to Valhalla. A new General rises, Valkril. He summons the worse of the worse, among them a mercenary army known as the 22nd.

The formidable force cleave their way through Valhalla slaughtering all in their path with extreme prejudice. A temporary alliance is formed and all remaining forces converge on the scourge.

There atop a gently rising hill beside a raging river of sparkling water, surrounded by enemy forces, they have reaped a ring of death and ever piling corpses.

The dragons join the fray en masse. Nilfeim is captivated by Braxas and lingers among the clouds admiring her. Beauty, power, perfection. The Queen, above all others, melting enemies with acid breath. Gleaming eyes, glistening scales, sultry sizzling words, and that tongue.

Unfortunately for Braxas and the other dragons, the 22nd possess dragon slaying artifacts and delight in the opportunity to use them. The queen is riddled with arrows. She makes a desperate effort to flee but does not make it far before crashing into a copse of small trees.

"Nooooo." With Nilf's scream, the ground shakes and the sky turns burgundy as the 22nd unleash vile magic. A lightning bolt sears and tears open Nilfheim's tail as he flees the combat site and circles around to where Braxas collapsed.

As he lands a creepy voice rumbles and envelops the conflict.
"Eck tel le sendar, ret kal len condaaaaar!"

Nilfheim looks back to the battle and sees a thing that should not be. The dead arise to fight the living. A horror beyond words had begun. The time of the Necromancer was upon Valhalla and before Drake Alexander can sever his head, he will spread zombies across the lands... but that is another story.

Returning to Braxas she sizzles "Come to finish me off?"
"You wish." Nilfheim chuckled.
With great effort he carries her a short distance before requiring rest.
"I thought you would be lighter."
She rolls her eyes in disgust and begins removing arrows and dripping acid to cauterize open wounds. "Your tail." A quick lick sears and seals the lightning damage. Painful delight for the dragon king.

So their journey continues as with great effort Nilfheim carries Braxas to the Wellspring and heals her wounds. Passing out from exhaustion, Nilf awakes in the morning to find the dragon queen gone. He will soon learn that she betrays the location of the Wellspring to Vydar.

The Last Tango

Years pass.
The Time of the Necromancer has ended. The numbers in Valhalla begin to swell once again.

New portals open to new worlds. Worlds of magic and dragons. Whispers of secret glyphs of power and hidden magical artifacts pervade local gossip. Many are sent in search of treasures.

Nilfheim finds himself sweeping Thaelek once again.

The Wellspring was now guarded by Vydar. A lonely outpost with tin men sentinels. Jandar blamed Nilf for Vydar seizing control and refused to send forces to claim it. He considered strafing them for a moment, the bitterness ran deep and cold but time was his friend and those were not his orders. Eventually the war would end and Jandar would open the portals to other worlds as promised and Nilfheim was intent on visiting them.

In the distance as the sun begins to set, a dark shape and its shadow speed to a far off peak. Nilfheim pursues, climbing high disappearing into the clouds, navigating by memory and intercepts.
It was Braxas, and one of her younglings. He had heard she had taken a mate. A dragon from a new world.
"Where are you going?" he wondered.

For a moment he thought about when he followed old Grizz and how he led him to the Wellspring. The very Wellspring that Braxas betrayed to Vydar.

Raging anger surges forth and he plummets in pursuit unleashing impaling ice shards into her wings. The damage was mostly cosmetic and she turns to engage as her companion swoops down to the mountain side.

Acid versus ice amongst the darkening clouds of dusk. Black against white in the coming night. Dragons due battle.

"You dare return to my lands?"
"I fly where the treasure lies." Braxas replies, spitting acid like a cobra into Nilf's face, melting an eye. His reply slices sky with knives of ice but the queen is wary and dodges the try. Teeth nash, cut and gash as the king's blood flows freely while Braxas stays steely but something more important is at hand.

Acid on wing brings the once mighty Nilfheim to the tundra. He crashes with considerable force and discomfort. He wards off the blackness just long enough to see a wary head poking outside a cave's entrance. Braxas swoops in and the queen's teeth snap shut on her daughter's neck.

REQUIEM

Good men perish as the seas of Thaelenk fill with ice and blood.

So now the war has spread to the sea. Rule the water, rule the land. The fools. He who flys rules the skies and all that lies below.
Many years had past since his battle with Braxas. Things were different now. The king grows weary of endless battles and unkept promises.
Nilfheim's orders were simple. Send the enemy to the bottom.
The early conflict went well as the Viking Longboats dominated the lesser vessels.

Then came Eslo and his gun.
Eslo Rudkey. Human. Cursed. Immortal. A Michigan man with a demon infused, hellfire expelling, double barrelled flintlock pistol that was currently devastating every ship that enters his line of sight.
Drawing nearer was Finn's Longboat. The flagship of Jandar's navy. Soon it would meet a fiery end. Without a second thought he dove, wings pressed tight for maximum speed, the weight of too many wars hastening his descent.

Eslo, so consumed with the demonic destruction, never saw Nilfheim until it was too late.

Dozens of bones shatter like ice on impact. The vessel snaps in half and is quickly swallowed by Mother Ocean. Too broken to swim Nilfheim holds his breath and witnesses the carnage beneath the waves. Bodies bob and weave in debris still burning with hellfire. It was a nightmare, fear made physical below the fathoms.

And then there was Eslo.
Re-spawned by the cursed gun and not happy. He points the barrels at the dragon King's head but too late. A quick release of one last super chilled breath, freezes the water around Eslo, sealing him in ice, Captain America style.

Above, the battle continues...

TAF mentioned he would like to see a story about the hive...

As the Prompt giver, I cannot recommend any particular hero.

I do actually have a thought involving the Hive, but I'm not quite sure if it fits the letter of your prompt.

Technically all the actual Prompt requests is that the story be about them. However, I stated clearly that the idea of this Prompt is Perspective, so point-of-view is fairly important to me in the judging process.

Basically you can write whatever you want concerning your chosen character. However, it'll need to be really good to compete with the other entries if it conflicts with my judging preference. Even if they're both equally well-written, a story from the PoV of the Hive will beat out a story where the Hive is not the PoV character. So I'd only recommend attempting this if you are very confident in your idea.

I was very confident in my idea of a Hive PoV. There was only the slight problem of the idea having no story. But still, surely the thought counts, right? Right?

I'm not confident enough in my Hive idea so I'm just going to randomly decide a figure and then write something. I really hope I get it all done in a week.
