• It is Small or Tiny.
• It does not have Super Strength.
• It is wounded.
• It is not adjacent to any allies.

After attacking an adjacent character, if Pennywise has all skulls, have the defender roll a d20 until it does not have 6 or lower. On each 6 or lower, it takes 1 wound.

HAUNTING CURSE
Enemies within 3 spaces have -3 on d20 rolls. During cleanup, you may place Pennywise 3 spaces from an enemy.

WINTER 2024: IT can morph into any other human animal, nonhuman animal or object (including combinations thereof). This ability is useful for, A) appearing as the target's loved ones or friends to manipulate them or lure them into a trap or B) appearing as the target's worst psychological fear. However, ITs favorite and most common form is that of a circus performer named "Pennywise the Dancing Clown," as most small children love a clown and generally, it seems that the people in Derry happily accepted the presence of a stray circus performer. At the same time, many people are afraid of clowns, making them an easy fear to exploit.

ITs primary goal is to feed on humans, generally preferring children over adults since they were easier to scare and manipulate. According to the creature, frightened flesh tastes better and uses fear to "salt the meat".

Resources and Rulings
• The suggested figure for this unit is a modified Heroclix figure: Captain America and the Avengers & Deadpool and X-Force #045 / Baron Zemo & #021b / Slapstick
• See this card's wiki page for synergies and strategies!

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

= lateral
- nerf
+ buff

=Ditching the Haunted Balloon Item and instead putting the simplified/tweaked effects of it on Pennywise's card as Haunting Curse. (IT curses the town, and it represents the broader scare tactics/effects IT uses, including balloons etc.)
-Move from 6 to 5.
+Gains Flying instead.
+Range from 1 to 3.
-Inorganics immunity to Deadlights

Overall, a slight buff.

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

I do miss the Balloons.

Theme-wise, do we need the Inorganic callouts? Obviously theme-wise he likes to eat Humans, but nothing on the card really has to do with eating. Is there any evidence that his tricks wouldn't work on robots or ghosts or whatever?

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

IT feeds off fear. That's the theme behind the IT ability, is Pennywise is playing/seasoning the food. "Sweet delicious fear"

I don't think an inorganic being would be able to have fear. As for the Deadlights, some insight:

Quote:
The very life essence and even true form of the dangerous extra-dimensional beast, It was comprised of the Deadlights themselves and used that power to blind new victims (usually human children) and robbed them of their conscious minds. It used this to drive his victims insane as well as leaving them both immobile and lifeless before taking them away to consume later.

In the 1990's TV miniseries, Stephen King's IT, in 1960, the murderous local bully, Henry Bowers, witnessed It's Deadlights after his failed attempt to kill Stan Uris of the Lucky Seven and survived, but ended up going insane while his hair turned pale white as a side effect of the Deadlights' power. He emerged from the sewers beneath Derry and was immediately arrested by the police for the deaths of the children taken by It, which he confessed to while in custody.

In the 2017 It remake, Beverly Marsh witnessed the Deadlights and was put into a temporary coma. She was brought out of the coma by Ben Hanscom kissing her. Upon looking at the Deadlights, Beverly hears sounds of children screaming, including an older person who shouted "HELP ME!!!". This implied that the Deadlights, and, to an extension, It, did not just eat their flesh and fear, but their souls as well. It is also surmised that Stan viewed the Deadlights, though was not similarly transfixed by them, during his confrontation with It while in the form of Judith.

In It Chapter Two, Mike Hanlon remembers the Deadlight's power and warns the other Losers not to look as the lights descend during the totem ritual, but Richie Tozier inadvertently looks into them anyway during the subsequent battle as he attempts to distract It from Mike. He is rendered comatose and floating but is released abruptly to the ground when Eddie Kaspbrak throws Bev's fence post "monster-killer," choking It, and is woken when Eddie speaks to him.

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

We've definitely treated Inorganics as being able to feel fear. (Leatherface is an example) We could definitely argue that what robots or ghosts feel is some form of "simulated fear" though, and that Pennywise wouldn't feed off of it or care about it. Whatever you think fits!

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

If we get C3PO, he'd have like the opposite of Fearless XD

Also I saw FLYING in red bold and the thought of Pennywise flying around is horrifying, not mechanically, but just regularly horrifying.

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

I like the simplifying here cutting the Balloon personally. I think that's a clean change there. Rest looks fine. I do have a question about the Range. Not knowing the source material very well what's the reason he didn't have range in 1.0 but does now?

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

It is a shapeshifter. In the book it becomes a lot of things that could justifiably have range - a swarm of bugs, a giant bird, a huge spider, a big Paul Bunyan statue with an axe, etc. Anywhere from 1-3 range is probably justifiable for it.

Tough to say on the Inorganic question because it only ever messed with Humans.

Re: Pennywise - Design/Review

FYI, Iron Giant used WB for Publisher instead of spelling out Warner Bros.
