C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Lady Death

Army Test
Map: Country Road
Units: Lady Death, Chucky, Sam, Leatherface, Michael Myers (790) VS Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye I, Commander Rogers (800)

Spoiler Alert!

Michael chooses to stalk Nick Fury. The Agents drop on height. Lady Death attacks Black Widow from range, dealing 2 wounds. Commander Rogers deals 2 wounds to Death. Lady Death attacks Rogers twice, but only manages 1 wound each time which is ignored thanks to the photonic energy shield. Rogers is blocked. Death deals 1 wound to Rogers. Rogers deals 2 wounds to Death.

Death attacks Rogers twice and kills him thanks to the defiant fury boost. Widow is blocked. Death attacks Widows twice (burning OM3) and deals 2 wounds. Widow gets 2 turns in a row and deals 2 wounds to Lady Death.

Widow takes out Lady Death, which loses OM1 & the X. Widow deals 2 wounds to Michael Myers. Myers is blocked. Fury kills Myers, losing OM3.

Michael Myers returns & deals 2 wounds to Fury with The Shape. Widow gets back to height and shoots 2 wounds on Sam. Michael is blocked. Widow deals 4 wounds to Michael. Michael deals 1 wound to Fury. Widow kills Michael Myers. Leatherface carries Chucky forward.

Leatherface moves up. Widow deals a wound to Leatherface. Leatherface moves up. Hawkeye uses a trick arrow to hit both Slashers, but is blocked. Leatherface chainsaw massacres Black Widow, taking a wound of his own. Hawkeye takes Leatherface down.

Hawkeye attacks Sam but is blocked. Fury puts 2 wounds on Sam. Chucky deals a wound to Hawkeye. Fury takes out Sam. Chucky deals another wound to Hawkeye.

This continues on and eventually the Agents stand victorious.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Nick Fury with 3 wounds wins.

Amazo & Lady Death move out. Amazo is blocked. Death is blocked. Amazo deals 4 wounds with a green power marker. Death attacks twice to deal 2 wounds to Amazo.

Lady Death burns the X to attack twice, dealing 3 wounds to Amazo. Amazo takes out Lady Death with his last green power marker, which also wastes OM2. Amazo deals 2 wounds to Guy. Guy deals 2 wounds to Amazo, then overextends but is blocked. Amazo’s super speed special attack finishes off Guy with a 1-skull attack.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Amazo with 7 wounds wins.

Units: Lady Death, The Crow (580) VS Cyclops I, Phoenix, Rover (580)

Rover chooses Cyclops as his companion.

The Mutants move up as does Lady Death. Cyclops is blocked. Rover carries Cyclops to height then is blocked. Lady Death engages Cyclops and deals 3 wounds, which Rover takes, killing Rover and inflicting a wound back on Lady Death. Lady Death uses the X marker to attack again for 2 wounds on Cyclops.

Lady Death kills Cyclops. Phoenix wounds Lady Death. Lady Death deals 4 wounds with her boosted normal attack then burns the X marker to attack with a non-boosted normal attack, inflicting another wound to win the game (taking a wound from Phoenix Fire).


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Lady Death with 3 wounds & unused Crow win.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Lady Death is strong, but she struggles against other big guns. She really earns her keep when against figures who deal only 1-2 wounds at a time so her Defiant Fury keeps getting activated. The double attack is super useful, even when burning a numbered OM. I’d prefer to see her increase in points (400?) or nerfed slightly somewhere. She's really consistent at getting at least 350 points as-is. Admittedly in game 3 she had some hot dice and the opposing army wasn't great.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Big beatstick characters are always fun, but she was a little frustrating to play against due to her high stats. I never used Oblivion Sword’s remove from the game power but I love the theme there.

Awesome thanks for the test! What you said here pretty much echos my thoughts also: Struggles against heavy hitters but wrecks weaker folks. I'm hesitant to raise her cost too much more since she does struggle against those in that level. Do you think lowering her attack by 1 would put her where she should be? She'd still be quite potent when boosted by Cap and Star Lord, but maybe not quite as overwhelmingly so.

2 alternative suggestions;

DEFIANT FURY
When Lady Death receives one or more wounds from an enemy figure's attack, once during your next player turn, add X to her Attack number while attacking that figure, where X is the number of wounds Lady Death received from that figure since your last turn.

DEFIANT FURY
When Lady Death receives one or more wounds from an enemy figure's attack, add 1 to her attack for the rest of the round.

I’ll hold off on playtesting for a bit.

I'd like to avoid the first suggestion since if multiple figures deal damage you have to remember who all dealt what. It's just easier.

The second would be fine. I prefer it being a big boost thematically, but would rather her be more balanced and consistent. Anyone else have thoughts?

Hmm... what if you made it a bit more like C3G Hulk? As in, it takes more to trigger (say 2+ wounds), but then, for the rest of the round, she gets her big boost vs. everyone - feels a touch more 'epic' to me, while also easier to track and potentially more balanced.

I like Lazy's suggestion. You hit her for 1W and she's annoyed but that's it. You hit her for 2+ W's though and she gets angry and wants to give back as good as she got hit with a +2 attack to anyone in her way for the rest of the round. So killing her with a 1000 cuts is a better strategy then trying to KO her in just one or two swings of a hammer. It should help you balance her some vs. those weaker than her and the heavy hitters.

You mean she has to take 2+ wounds I. A single attack, she gets +2 attack for the rest of the round?

Not a bad idea. I l’m a bit attached to the personal grudge of her attacking the person who directly attacked her (plus the opponents choice of who to attack her with) But less swingy is good too. I’d have to think about it. Not sure I want to redesign the power since I do like it already.

I think -1 attack either on the special power or base stats, or -1 defense would make the most sense here. But I'll be happy with whatever the LD wants to do.

If you want to get started on tests, try out dropping her base attack by one. Unless we have other input.
