Sock's test makes me feel better because he's a good tester but he's really the only experienced tester so far so I'd like at least one more from a reliable tester for my own acceptance that my test are good.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: M.R.D. Trooper

Army Test
Map: Ivy's Greenhouse
Units: Graviton, J. Jonah Jameson, Blob, Oracle, M.R.D. Trooper x8 (1000) vs Cyclops, Cable, Psylocke, Deadpool (1000)

Spoiler Alert!

A handful of MRD Troopers mobilize early, moving to the road for quick deployment. Then Graviton (dragging Blob along) goes to take the mutants head-on.

Graviton, unfortunately, goes down very quickly. He only deals 1 wound, to Cable, before going down, taking 4 wounds from Cable in one turn before Cyclops finishes the job.

However, Graviton does manage to throw Psylocke and Cable adjacent to Blob, at the low ground, forming a nice killbox for the MRD Troopers. The MRDs manage to swoop in and take down Psylocke on just a couple Order Markers. She's wounded but not destroyed twice to give the MRDs a chance at negating her with Anti-Mutant Tech, but they miss both rolls.

In the next round, the MRDs take down Cable and wound Cyclops (missing two more chances at Anti-Mutant Tech).

Up to this point, the MRDs have been doing very well, only losing a couple stray troopers to ranged attacks. At this point, however, Deadpool enters the fray and starts mowing them down. The MRDs only manage to wound him once in retaliation. Making the roll for Anti-Mutant Tech could be a game-changer there, since they wound him at the start of a round while there were still four of them left. Unfortunately for them, they miss the roll again, and Deadpool manages to clean up the MRDs.

After the MRDs are down, Deadpool and Blob have a tedious knock-down drag-out that Deadpool eventually wins. He has four wounds at the end of the fight, but he heals the damage off while he cleans up JJJ and Oracle, making the end result look like a bigger victory than it was.

This was a solid showing for the MRDs. They managed to take down Psylocke and Cable (dealing all of the damage except for one wound to Cable) on top of dealing a wound each to Deadpool and Cyclops.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Deadpool with no wounds, Cyclops with 1 wound

Units: Martian Manhunter I, Bane, MRD Trooper x8 (730) vs The Hood, Whirlwind, Mentallo, Mysterio, Mysterio Holographs (730)

Weird point total, I know, but of the potential match-ups I was looking at, this was the one I was most curious about. I wanted to see how an MRD-based army would fare against a partially-Mutant army rather than a straight-up Mutant army.

Unsurprisingly, the answer is "worse". Besides the nature of the match-up, a couple other things worked against them here. The map felt a little worse for them, as it's trickier to get a bunch of ground-pounders across Sacred Shrine than it is Ivy's Greenhouse. The pillars also acted as LOS-blockers that shut down a lot of potential Mutant Assault Force action. Last but not least, Team MRD suffered from poor attack rolls. (I checked the game stats after I was finished and Team MRD averaged just under 40% skulls on attack)

Anyhow, once some of them had made it across the map, the MRDs tried to assault the Criminals with support from Bane, but The Hood and Mentallo were able to bamboozle them. The Hood was using Double Attack them off and Mentallo using Martian Manhunter and Bane to attack them, keeping them from getting within clear sight of Mentallo/Whirlwind so that they could activate all four. Eventually an MRD managed to break in, engage Mentallo, and deal him a couple wounds. Naturally, he misses the Anti-Mutant Tech roll, but he does tie down Mentallo for a minute and give Martian Manhunter and Bane a chance to go to work.

Unfortunately, that was just about all the MRD Troopers accomplished in this match. There were still a few left at this point, but they stopped getting Order Markers once their chances at multiple activations started going downhill. Team MRD had to pin its hopes on Martian Manhunter and Bane, who did manage to bring down a couple Heroes. Unfortunately, their attack rolls were still subpar, to the point where Whirlwind managed to get the better of Martian Manhunter in a 1-on-1.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: I'm liking the way the Troopers feel. They definitely need a solid Mutant presence on the opposing team to be really effective, but with a faction as big as the Mutants, that's hardly a problem. And of course, their Common Hero status makes them modular, so there's some room to adapt their usage to different scenarios. Anti-Mutant Technology didn't really come into play for me, but that has to be chalked up to luck, with the number of chances I had at it.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Fun unit. I particularly like the way they square off against Healing Factor X units, with them trying to get hits in early on in the round to negate the healing. There's a nice cinematic feeling to that. The next time I see somebody draft Wolverine for clean-up, I'd be tempted to grab 4-5 MRDs to leave in the start zone for him.[/QUOTE]

2-2 for Sock and Ronin and overall counting in the test I have ran they are 6-9. Not great but not awful either. I toyed with lowering the AMT roll by one as that was the biggest complaint but decided against it. The future addition that I have drafted will give them a boost on that front so all in all unless someone has a concern that I am missing I think I will call for the vote at 30 points.
