Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Looks like the squad tests summery came from your HQ 2.0 tests. I'll think a bit on the changes presented but my initial thoughts are positive. Just know that anyone that can add an auto shield to their def. roll will be a counter draft.

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Can anyone add an auto shield against Special Attacks?
Forgot to edit the summary on the Squad part, but the game results for them are for Nightcrawler. |

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Silver Surfer comes to mind, but he has to remove an unrevealed OM to do so. I suppose most of the auto shield powers are restricted to normal attacks but their may be a few others out there. A few other def. powers trigger when rolling def. dice that a d20 roll would bypass, like Spidey sense. I don't feel like it is a deal breaker for me, having a few counters is usually a good idea for game balance. Just felt the need to point it out. I actually think I prefer this approach as it gets rid of the d20 boosting mutant pod problem pushing up his price needlessly.

Nice tweak.

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Yeah, Cap's a big one.
Making it an SA does cut out Magneto/Destiny stuff (though it makes his odds of scoring a wound like he was at 14+). It also allows for some defensive powers to take action though, which is big. It should be clarified to be an on-your-turn thing, not something he can use on defense. He shouldn't be able to use an attack out of turn. I don't see how it does anything to cap what he can do to a single figure in one turn, though. Against figures that have defensive powers, it'll limit his effectiveness. Everyone else is still fair game to get hit with the power three times and then attacked, though. |

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
If it's a special attack, he wouldn't then be able to attack after using it.
I'm open to all suggestions though. |

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Yeah, I belatedly realized that this was pretty much the same as Noh-Varr's case of in-move SA. I dislike relying on that kind of wording/set-up, but I get what you're going for now.

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
We could possibly go with a straight unblockable instead of an attack, and just make it so you can't choose the same figure more than once for the power, much like Archangel, Elektra, and Wally.

Additionally, if we wanted him to have a Carry, it'd actually work out nice and simple, and we could take out the auto-kill part if they are 1 life away in exchange for it: Quote:

I honestly like the auto-kill part - it really sells the the ruthlessness theme, and I'd rather not see it go unless it's OP.

Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
Yeah, I really love the current design, making it an SA or removing the auto-destroy takes away from the design in my opinion.
It's not like he'd be the first mutant to rely on Magneto/Destiny, and in his case it's thematic. Limiting the current power to once-per-figure-per-turn seems like it'd help with balance without losing the thematic elegance of the current design. An SA also feels too close to the original Nightcrawler for me, and adding in carrying would really step on the toe's of a second Nightcrawler. C3G: Taking Superheroes to a Whole New Level! Re: The Book of Nightcrawler (Kurt Darkholme) (Vote for Init
I feel he's going to be pretty well underpowered in anything but Magneto + Destiny builds if the only change we make to the current design is to make it so he can't use Ruthless Teleport on the same figure more than once in a turn. He was already getting beaten 1-4 in 1 v 1 matches at 230, so the roll certainly isn't easy for him to get sans Magneto + Destiny. So that concerns me a bit that we're making him a niche draft in just 1 combo. I feel Nightcrawler is better than that.
