I have an absolute favorite ten minutes (haven't times it but I bet it fits, I was gonna say 5 minutes but that probably doesn't) of the whole thing. It's in The Two Towers. Is this a fun guessing game or just annoying? Repaints My Maps Online Maps Customs CoN is FuN

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Just watched All Quiet on the Western Front a couple nights ago, outside of it being dubbed (I believe it was made in German) it's the best historically accurate war movie I've seen.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
The original movie version with Lew Ayres was amazing too, as was the modern TV version with Richard Thomas and Ernest Borgnine as Kat! The book has a sequel called The Road Back, which ends up with the older protagonist watching Hitler Youth practicing military maneuvers from a train car.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
It's crazy to think the original had actual WW1 vets acting in it, it must've taken some serious balls to voluntarily go back and reenact being in that nightmare

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Media wise, a biography of early British film director James Whale notes that some of his early movie monster flics' more ghoulish scenes such as those from the first Frankenstein movies seem like variants on nightmarish paintings on WWI battlefield subjects.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Just watched The Lorax and Hunger Games. Both were good and I liked how The Hunger Games stuck to the book.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
I've been watching Samurai movies lately, as the board game Samurai Battles premiers on my game table. The newer versions with great film commentaries are very worthwhile, such as Kagemusha and Throne of Blood. Samurai Banners has the excellent extras typical of Animeigo productions. Next up: The Hidden Fortress and Yojimbo! Without commentary, I've seen Heaven and Earth.
