Thinking about buying Borderlands. Can anyone speak to its single player playability and/or its splitscreen co-op? I just want to know if I can start a game with a friend and then play on my own it if that will mess up the leveling for him, etc. On PS3 if that makes a difference. Also, anyone played the Sequel?

I believe you can play split screen with 2 (but not 4). The game seamlessly switches between single and multiplayer (it's the same, I mean).

The sequel is not out yet, still being developed. It was just in the latest Game Informer magazine.

Herp! I saw the 9/1 release date and thought it was this year. Whoops. My buddy wont be underlevelled or anything to jump into my game if I play without him?

If you get much ahead of him it might be a problem, not sure if it adjusts to the lower players' level. If you want, you can level up a different class to play online without him - but a few levels won't be a problem.

Split screen is great with Borderlands, I've done 2-player split screen for almost the entire campaign. Very fun stuff.

However, I can attest that there is no handicap or anything for under-leveled players. I'd recommend starting a new character if you want to play through with a friend.

Recently bought Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics on Steam. Stopped at a thrift store, picked up Master Blaster, Elevator Action, Metal Mech: Man & Machine, and Battletoads for the NES with the cartridge sleeves.

Master Blaster was perhaps one of the best gaming surprises I ever had - got it for birthday or Christmas so long ago - never heard of it and box looked crappy, but what an awesome game inside!

You will also love Fallout 1 and 2, but Tactics was a massive disappointment to me (It's a combat game, no role-playing). Jagged Alliance was a much better combat game (in that ilk that is).
