Or Hatamoto Taro.

I would agree that Venom is the best Marvel hero, but classic 'Scape has more units that I'd take over him like Raelin or Deathreavers for their sheer utility.

When I say best unit I mean best alone. While there are certainly much better options for a more team based build(Raelin/Deathreavers), I think Venom just excels all around.

And I assume your joking with Hatamoto?

I think that even as a standalone hero, there are some classic options that outclass him. Major Q9 is the big one, but I'd argue that Kaemon Awa, Major Q10, and pretty much any of the upper tier of figures (along with some noteworthy standalones like Sgt. Drake Alexander) will fair better in a normal game.

And I never joke about Hatamoto Taro. I'd recommend that you don't, either.

Cap is great but isn't he a little expensive?

And for the sake of the argument, in a 1v1 Venom v I think Cap may win with the fact that he has counterstrike and Venom can't dodge for counterstrike. But Cap is still ridiculously expensive regardless of how good he is. I think overall, Venom is MUCH more worth it points wise and overall ability-wise. And I do have backing for that statement.

I once took Venom to a team play tournament, basically two players are randomly selected to play with each other, you have about 450 points, you battle 2 other players, etc, etc. We played a total of four rounds, and in 3 of those rounds Venom took out Spiderman, Torin, Death Walker 3k, Braxas, Ne Gok Sa, Q10, Krug, and Zetacron, along with numerous other squad figures. He only took 3 wounds one of the rounds, and survived the other 2 without taking a single wound, all while dealing immense damage.

I just think he's the best. He's literally invincible and gets a free 4 move between turns if the D20 is hot. He can rush straight into your enemies starting zone, kill tons of units, and get away with it. I remember a game where I was wreaking havoc in my enemies start, barely surviving with 4 wounds. My opponent starts moving in Q10 to try and blast my Kelda, and shot a parting shot at me. Big mistake. I got Spidey sense, jumped over, took my next turn with Venom, ran over with his great 6 move, and one shot Q10 from height.

Minions? No problem! I always enjoy the squeamish look of my opponent as they surround me with Minions on height, roll a perfect 3 skulls, only for me to roll Spidey Sense and just jump out of range of all their attacks, essentially force ending their turn.

Krav? No problem! Just use Swing Lines conveniency to dodge behind terrain, or bum rush those suckers, and enjoy picking them off one by one as your opponent watches 100 points of their army disappear.

Any hero at all? No problem! Venom has 6 attack(one of the strongest in the game), and absolutely enjoys pounding the ever living nuggets out of big juicy expensive heroes. Imagine the feeling of ecstasy as a high wound Krug/Hulk rolls a perfect 7 attack, only for you to roll a 14+, jump away, come back, and kill them. Imagine jumping around for a solid 3 rounds with Venom until he dies, feel bad for losing 150 points, realize he did 3 times his point value, and easily swamp your opponent with your remaining 350 points.

In conclusion, everything pales at the sight of Venom.

I had forgotten about him. Him and 4th Mass. is extremely strong, although I think that his adjacency bonus has a lot of potential even without them. Venom is still great as a standalone hero, though, and him and Spiderman are the first Marvel units that I would think to add to a classic army.

"Waste" is one way of putting it. Seeing the Hulk take down a swarm of Ashigaru has its appeal.

I know. It's always fun to remember when I decided to take the Hulk in a Castle Siege, when the Omnicron Snipers found themselves absolutely helpless against his Super Leaping fury. Good times.

Back when I used to run only classic releases and Marvel, though, Venom and Spiderman were the first superheroes to draft because of their cheaper price. The others are generally hard to work into a conventional army without building around them, I think.
