Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
Well, assuming you avoid the turn 1 tie (either by Nick Fury or some other method), you can still potentially win the main battlefield to score a point, whereas the other player will have to win the Upside Down, which they might not even have a way to access by their own volition.

Actually, nope, it's not an auto-tie, it's an auto-loss if you lose initiative.

Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
Ah, I see what you're saying. New territory, so difficult for my brain to wrap around at times. Here's an attempt:
Each winner of each battlefield is awarded 1 victory point. If a battlefield was occupied only by figures drafted by one player or team at the start of game, that battlefield is worth 0 victory points. The player or players with the most victory points are deemed to be the winners of the game. If no battlefield can award victory points, the game cannot be played. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
Intended as the latter. Galactus rules were originally written on the presumption that you wouldn't start with separate battlefields.

What do you think of my above tweak of what you had? Do you think that works?

Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
Yeah, that seems fine. The reason I wasn't worried about that initially was that I didn't realize we didn't check victory conditions at the start of the game.
Admittedly, kind of a weird thing to even come up, but I was thinking of it more like "don't check during a turn" vs strictly "check at the end of each turn". Shutting down the weird Nick Fury gambit is a good idea. |

Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
If the original intent of the rule is to prevent someone with one or more demogorgons from getting an easy point from the Upside Down, why not just add "The Upside Down is worth 0 victory points" to the Upside Down specifically and axe all the unintuitive stuff about units on the battlefield at the start of the game with its bizarre ramifications.

Re: The Book of Upside Down - Final Editing
Because that would let the Demogorgons pull off janky easy wins. Feel free to go read through that thread.
