Big Brain Academy

from the Nintendo DS days taught me anything its that keeping the brain engaged is fun. You keep the brain engaged with things like reading, puzzles, and creativity. What better way to be creative than to tinker with Heroscape customs?

Once a week a prompt will be issued here for any designer, new or accomplished, to work on. These are just for fun and to keep us all thinking about new and exciting ideas. Here is how it works:

• Bi-weekly a new post will be linked here with a prompt. The prompt could be a mini or a theme. If the design is a theme... suggest a mini for your design!
  
  
• During those two weeks we draft, get comments from eachother and tinker with the prompt.
  
  
• At the end of two weeks I'll link all the designs of people that participated in the original post here.
  
  
• Everyone takes their design back to their own thread, it's a cool draft that may see some play.
  
  
• These prompts are meant to inspire something you can play with classic. Feel free to use any mechanics or new ground covered in C3G, VC, NGC, the AoA Haslab campaign, and new things that Renegade brings us..

Prompt for April 14th 2024

Theme: A Varied Squad

Sometimes it's hard to find enough figures that look alike to create a squad, whether its unique or common, so much like the Pirate squad from the new era of heroscape... mix it up! Make a squad that uses figures that might not normally be picked to go together and tell us how they DO go together. These can be figures from different species, regions, eras, look for a fun way to accomplish the prompt. Excited to see the creativity on this one.

Theme: Music

Time to get musical. Your custom can be from any planet, any time period, and be any species but... it should use or be music themed somehow. This could be a siren from greek mythology, or a soulborg that uses concussive soundwaves to blast metallica, or barbarian that uses an axebladed guitar. The theme is loose, just incorporate music into the design in some way. Excited to see what everyone comes up with!

Prompt for March 10th 2024

Theme: Soulborgs!

Time to get mechanical. This round's prompt is anything that could possibly be a soulborg. Squads, Heroes, extra points if they slot into an existing faction. This doesn't mean they necessarily need synergy but if they are an Omnicron or a Zettian or a -tron (gladiatron/blastatron) then try to jump in on those design values and see how close you can make it feel to being a legitimate part of that faction.

Theme: Under the Sea. Sea creature, fantastical humanoid species, aliens that live on planets that are covered in water, or technology that is meant for deep sea exploration. If it can thrive in the wild, dangerous oceans of earth or elsewhere then let's dream it up.

All manner of monsters, technology, or mystical creatures are free game this includes amphibious units as long as you envision them primarily making their home under vast bodies of water.

Theme: The prompt for this period is Elemental but don't limit yourself to the standard four (fire, water, earth, air)! You can take the Helenic angle, or you can look to other cultures for their ideas on elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water are the chinese zodiac elements for instance), or you can go to the periodic table if you're feeling extra science-y.

Big elementals, small elementals, elementals with names, creatures made of an element (VC's Phoenix comes to mind) or something that works with them. Let's see what your ideas are.
