I don't think that the article necessarily means that WotC will not carry the SW license in some way, in fact, the article eludes to some possibility. I think that it might actually be possible that Heroscape may pick up the SW license. Possible anyways.

WotC would need the license for it to be used in Heroscape. Based on other articles, it seems like a different company will be picking up the license, not WotC.

Yep, I am with Eirikr on this one. I would say what Lucas says about Starwars "Starwars is a fantasy drama that uses the Sci-Fi theme to tell the story, but it is primarily a fantasy drama." Now the new movies and cartoons definitly stray away from that mold some, but SW at its core, is a fantasy drama.

I believe the term you are looking for is Space Opera. Like Buck Rogers, the BSG series and any story where some hero saves the universe and gets the girl (even if it is his sister).
