Well, what if Vengeful Strike were like Adamantium Counterstrike? Something like:
Adamantium Counter Strike
When Lady Deathstrike is targeted for a normal attack from an adjacnet figure, the attacking figure rolls one less attack die. When rolling defense dice against this attacking figure, all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure.

I'm not sure I'm getting the theme of their attack being less powerful against her just because her claws are adamantium ... I think there's enough stat subtracting on the card as is ... I prefer something that deals with engagement/disengagement.

After an opponent's small or medium figure enters engagement with Lady Deathstrike, or before an opponent's small or medium figure leaves an engagement with her, roll the 20-sided die. Add 1 to your roll for each Wound Marker on Lady Deathstrike's card. If you roll 13 or higher, the opponent's figure receives one wound.

The one thing I don't like about it is that it's unclear whether you'd still roll an attack die for a leaving engagement.

Damn original HS designers. Making us use d20 for engagement strike and single attack die for leaving engagement strike.

Yeah, I think I agree with you. It's doable as is, but Human Torch has shown me the zaniness of leaving engagement attack powers that are anything but super straightforward ...
