The Pet Avengers manage to storm across the battlefield pretty quickly and take out Cassandra Cain at the end of the first round, on one of Throg's big X-reveal turns. Helps that she whiffed two Defensive Premonition rolls in a row, and Pack Tactics put her away.

Despite the strong opening, the Pet Avengers' strength flagged when the Sidekicks managed to mob Lockjaw, and quickly take out Bud to eliminatee the threat of Pack Tactics.

Throg had a hard time landing a hit himself, which didn't do his team any favors, and he took an OM with him when he went down, giving the Sidekicks time to play mop-up.

Throg and the gang storm the enemy again and it seems like it's not going great when Bud gets taken out early and Old Lace dies without doing much, but the Pet Avengers rally and manage a narrow win. Throg gets a little more damage in this time.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Really dig Throg and the Pet Avengers - tried them against one build with mostly fragile figures and one build with tougher figures to see if they could still compete. They ended up losing to the Sidekicks and beating the Thunderbolts, so I guess that addresses that concern pretty handily.

The Pet Avengers are a bit fragile, but super mobile and they can pull off the occasional big turn, so they're pretty fun to play. They're a glass cannon faction on a budget.

Didn't really get into testing them in mixed armies - if someone's interested in trying a bigger game, I'd be curious to see a match that mixes the Pet Avengers into a Star-Lord build, which you can do since Throg isn't a Companion and Bud and Lou are a squad. I'd be curious to see something like Throg + Bud and Lou + (Old Lace or Lockjaw) + Star-Lord + Harley

Round 1 – Ka-Zar sets to hunt Mr Fantastic. Petvengers take the initiative, with Throg leading the pack. Lockjaw teleports Old Lace and Lockheed forward, where Lockheed manages to get two wounds on Invisible Woman, but Old Lace can’t crack Fantastic. Reed rolls a 1 for Fantastic Leader and fails to wound Old Lace. Throg tries his Frogjolnir, but can’t put out a wound. Petvengers don’t dent the Fantastic Four, but the Four manage to kill Old Lace and Lockheed.
Round 2 – Fantastic Four take initiative. Two failed defense rolls spells the end for Throg. Fantastic Four continues to sweep the board, taking out Ka-Zar and Zabu and the Skrull Infiltrator that appeared, continually robbing the Petvengers of any turns at all.
Round 3 – Fantastic Four strike down Lockjaw and advance on Shadowcat.
Round 4 – Shadowcat falls

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Fantastic Four win. All units surviving, two wounds on Invisible Woman.

Round 1 – Turtles get initiative, and armies advance. Lockjaw warps up some of the companions. Throg’s Frogjolnir gets two wounds on Donnie after a defensive whiff. Frogjolnir ends the round with 1 more wound on Donnie and Raph each. Old Lace and Lockheed fail to put out a wound, and Zabu wounds himself with a failed pounce on Donnie.
Round 2 – Turtle Power starts off the round. Zabu is killed and other wounds are dealt to Old Lace and Throg. Petvengers Assemble, but only Throg’s Frogjolnir accomplishes anything, putting the final wound on Donnie with a two skull roll. Old Lace across 2 turns puts 3 wounds on Raph.
Round 3 – Throg kicks the round off by putting a wound on Leo with Frogjolnir. Lockjaw’s fire puts another two, and Lockjaw finishes him off when the Petvengers assemble. Old Lace and the rest fail to put further wounds out, and the Turtles only get one wound on Throg.
Round 4 – Throg falls to Mikey, but no other wounds are put out this round.
Round 5 – Old Lace across two turns eliminates the Turtles.

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Petvengers win with Old Lace (3 wounds), Wasp, Lockjaw (1 wound), and Lockheed still alive.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: The Companions don’t hit super hard, for the most part. They have some nice special attacks though, so a good Assemble round can do some serious damage if you are lucky. Throg is definitely draftable, especially if you take a few companions, as the bonding can be very helpful even without the X.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Throg is fun. The flexibility on when to use the X is nice, and it can create some real power turns and good moves, especially against OM hub teams where the companions can hit hard. He’s got a bit of survivability, but nowhere near enough bulk to make it against high point figures. I think the turtles could have done better here, but it feels like hit hard and fast is the best strategy for more even ground games for the pets (a clear failure against the Fan 4).
