Re: Typhon2222's Maps — new map Stigmata added (2/6/2022)
Another new map: Stigmata.
Although its architecture is quite different, this one was inspired by Dance of the Dryads, and addresses some of DotD's quirks. On this one (Stigmata).... • The understructure better supports the upper levels (i.e., the map is less precarious). • Road is more useful, I think. • Shadow is less punitive (not sunken below road). • Molten lava is now Wyvern-proof. • Easier access to the glyphs from center. • Friendlier for double-spaced figs. (They love this map.) On the other hand, Dance of the Dryads has.... • Perhaps more interesting height. • Slightly better LoS-blocking. • A more pleasing shape for some. • And better aesthetics too maybe? What do you think? Which do you prefer? (Dance of the Dryads at bottom for comparison.) Stigmata Download PDF Uses: 1 BftU, 1 RttFF, 1 VW Last edited by Typhon2222; April 13th, 2022 at 08:16 PM. Looks good! I think it still pushes to the left- maybe even more than Dance- but I’m not sure how much you can really do about it when you’re already getting ridiculous mileage out of almost nothing lol.

Ah, thanks for the warm words,

By the way, as a huge LotR fan myself, I love the look and Osgiliath inspiration of your Citadel. Last edited by Typhon2222; February 7th, 2022 at 12:43 PM. |

Yesh, doubtless you're right that Stigmata still pulls left, for some armies at least. But with road leading directly to its forward edge (near the glyph) and along its side, and lava on LVL3 at both places, man, it's hard to hold. This map is so fluid.... Re: Typhon2222's Maps — new map Stigmata added (2/6/2022)
If some kind tournament director among you uses one of my new maps (Stigmata, Blood Star, Mome Raths, Mime Raths) or newly revised maps (Song of the Walrus, Ice Thistle) at a tournament, I'd sure be grateful if you could drop me a quick line here.
Thanks in advance. |

I've tweaked and updated Blood Star, and have gotten several good games in on it.

Re: Typhon2222's Maps — new map Stigmata added (2/6/2022)
Here we go, folks! Yet more tweaking of Blood Star — this time, some major revisions:
• The glyph and surrounding lowlands have all been lifted 1 level, to LVL2. Makes flanking around the big outcrops easier, and easier to contest the LVL3 height by the glyphs. • All the pointless LVL1 flab that fringed the sides has been trimmed off. • The central LVL4 lava has been reoriented. • More of the middle approach has been lifted, to LVL2. • Shadow has been shifted in order to incentivize going straight up the middle. • SZs now consist solely of sand — no more water. • Rock has been redeployed to the middle: better aesthetics. All in all, it's a leaner and meaner map. (Like Stigmata, it's now only 13 hexes wide, and has 13 hexes of separation between SZs. I like this small format.) Also just plain looks better. I now feel comfortable saying that I think this map is a masterpiece. Blood Star Download PDF Uses: 2 BftU, 1 VW Last edited by Typhon2222; April 20th, 2022 at 05:07 PM. |

I've had the original Blood Star set up, but I've only played on it once. At a glance, I like the changes you've made. You can now traverse the center on level three as opposed to climbing to level four. This change alone dramatically the map.

I'm glad you approve of the changes. But I can only take credit for some of them. Many of the revisions were suggested by @OEAO , @superfrog , and @GameBear . If you get a chance to play on the revised version, I'd love to hear your thoughts. |
