Map: Sewer Labyrinth
Units: Scarlet Witch (370), Professor X (220), Angel (90), Deadpool (285), Judge Fish (25) (990 points) Vs. Fantastic Four (1000 points)
Spoiler Alert!
For clarity, Mr. Fantastic’s power reads as “After revealing an Order Marker and before taking a turn with Mr. Fantastic”, whilst SW’s reads “when an enemy figure within 4 clear sight spaces of SW begins its turn”. Going by this, I assumed this would mean Mr. Fantastic can still activate his Fantastic Leader as it activates before he takes a turn, but if this is incorrect I can run this test again.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
Scarlet Witch’s power and utility is more than enough to see her getting board time. She’s very hit or miss with damage, and gets so ridiculously strong as you buff her. In the first game she destroyed 500 point Thanos in one turn. Second game she takes out most of the F4 with help from Deadpool. This game her Altering Avenger gets a lot more play. AA really ruins a lot of figure’s plans and can make her deceptively tanky. In the third game she tore the turtles apart but still was an incredibly close game. She REALLY benefits from having her attack raised, and I’d wonder how she’d do with Enchantress since the current wording suggests that auto skull would be affected too.
Maybe I was getting lucky rolls, but the more I played her the more I felt she could actually do with a slight point increase. 3 attack isn’t hurting much, but when she’s rolling 5 attack dice it almost always leads to something getting hurt badly, and that’s not hard to achieve. And if she’s rolling well for her AA as well, she’s not going down anytime soon and can shut figures down. Sage is an incredible partner for her that bolsters both of her abilities, and I’d fear what she could do if you stack multiple buffers, or if I’d managed to pull off Cap + Sage + height in the first game.
This all said though, she’s a frail unit if she’s not rolling well, or against someone who outranges her, has MD, auto wounds, or has multi attacks. She has a lot of weaknesses that can be exploited easily with the right set up. She’s definitely a piece you could build teams around, but you need to guard her. The second team was built almost entirely around her and it showed it’s potency with the sheer amount of shutdown and redirection.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: I loved her! I love her chaotic and creative abilities. She was terrifying to fight as just a couple of buffs made her damage potential so much higher, and she has several teams she can slot into. I had a lot of fun testing her though, and it was fun building teams that pushed her chaos further.

Scarlet Witch 370
Captain America 240
Winter Soldier 240 (who chose Captain America as his buddy, of course)
Ms. Marvel 350
vs.
Fantastic 4 + Future Force Spider-Man (1225 total)
Spoiler Alert!
Random glyph was Glyph of Weather Heavy Rain and did not do much of anything in the game. Both forces met on the bridge. Cap provided support as Ms. Marvel took the brunt of the attacks, often inflicting wounds with her "Best Defense" ability while also bonding to let Scarlet Witch take turns. Overall all figures on the Avengers side did similar amounts of damage, with Bucky and Captain America getting the finishing blows. Winter Soldier was able to sneak around to the other side and take down Invisible Woman, stopping her defensive buff. Scarlet Witch was able to prevent a good amount of attacks, which while saving her during the last round did not make much of a difference at that point as Captain America killed Spider-Man and Mr. Fantastic with his shield and Winter Soldier finished The Thing during the bonded turn.
Overall, it felt pretty balanced, as by the final round both teams had suffered a good amount of damage and both Invisible Woman and Ms. Marvel had already been lost. The Fantastic 4 won initiative and did some damage to Scarlet Witch on the first turn. Captain America threw his shield and damaged Spider-Man and Mr. Fantastic while Bucky attempted to take down the Thing. Then Spider-Man, having expected Mr. Fantastic to die, took a turn but was stopped from attacking by Scarlet Witch (retroactively changed: she rolled a 10 and can't +4 herself so she died actually, 3 skulls vs. 2 shields). Then Captain America went again and all three of the remaining opponents were killed.
Scarlet Witch is fun to play, and preventing opponents from doing things creates a nice control dynamic. Her attacks are often pretty decent, usually rolling 2-4 each time. It is also nice to have the Magical Defense power, which gives her the longevity she needs when having only 4 life but costing 370 points. Will play another game or two to see how the numbers feel more precisely, but as of now she feels pretty good.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): I won, Captain America and Winter Soldier both with 3 life remaining (2 wounds), everyone else died.
Army Test
Map: Grundy's Grave
Units:
Blubberguy22 (me) played:
Scarlet Witch (370) + Mystic Flames (5)*
Captain America (Sam Wilson) (180)
Tar Pit (150)*
Blob (165)*
*with White Avenger Marker
vs.
Green Lantern (Kilowog) (310)
Green Lantern x3 (120)
Green Construct (Decoy) x4 (200)
Spoiler Alert!
Overall: Green Lanterns smacked around my team as I tried to hold them down with Tar Pit and Blob, but failed to prevent the team from dying as Kilowog sent in Green Constructs for the kills.
Round 1. I won initiative. Choosing Captain America (CA) bonded with Blob to move up. Opponent moved a Green Lantern (GL) up (towards center). Similar second turn, moving Tar Pit and another GL towards combat. Then Scarlet Witch (SW) moved in and hit a GL for 1 (1 of each face for 2 skulls total, second attack was a whiff). That same GL attempted to retaliate but SW got a 16 and prevented it from attacking.
Round 2. I won initiative. With CA bonded with Blob who moved up to engage two GLs. He attacked but dealt no damage. CA hung back. Next a GL came up and smacked SW, dealing 2 (reduced to 1 because Magical Defense). Tar Pit moved up to lock down this third GL and attempted to damage him, but failed to do so. Kilowog spawned a Green Construct (GC) and SW attempted to stop it attacking, but failed (rolled 10). It then moved up and attacked SW at range, dealing 2 (reduced to 1 because Magical Defense). SW then tried to use Mystic Flames and rolled 1 skull. Tar Pit was unaffected and Blob defended successfully. Both GLs also defended successfully. Kilowog then placed another GC, this time out of range of SW. It then moved up to SW and attacked, which she defended.
Round 3. I won initiative. CA again bonding with Blob to attack a GL (rolling all 5 skulls), one-shotting the GL. Kilowog then followed up with another GC, this time getting it stuck on Blob to gain height advantage (going where the recently fallen GL was). It got all 5 skulls (must be revenge) giving Blob 3 damage. CA bonded with Tar Pit to try to hit a GL, but failed to deal any damage. Kilowog spawned another GC, which dealt another 2 (so 1 because Magical Defense) to SW. CA bonded with SW to roll 4 (2 skulls, 1 blank) on a GC, killing it outright. She then followed up with 2 (2 skulls, 1 shield) on a GL, failing to do damage. Kilowog then used an already summoned GC to attack Scarlet Witch, killing her.
Round 4. Opponent won initiative. Kilowog used another GC to smack CA for 3 damage, nearly killing him. CA then bonded with Blob to attack a GC, dealing 1 damage. Kilowog then used the same GC to kill CA (losing OM 2 and 3; he rolled horrible on his defense both times). GL then hit Blob for 1.
Round 5. I won initiative. Tar Pit double disengaged, taking 1 damage and then attacking a GC, getting the benefit of the extra blank (although not needing it) and killing it. A GL then did 1 damage to Blob. Tar Pit then rolled all 4 skulls and did 2 damage to a GL. That GL then moved away and attacked back, dealing 2 damage. Blob then tried to attack a GL, but rolled all shields. Tar Pit then got Murdered by a GL, who rolled 6 skulls (even though Tar Pit got 4 shields).
Round 6. I won initiative. Blob killed a GL. Then Blob died to a GL.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): I lost. Kilowog full Health, 1 GL with 1 health, 1 unsummoned GC and 2 full health GC remaining.
Overall: Magneto and Scarlet Witch scared opponent into corner, but not before sucking in Superman to be stuck to Blob and then Cyborg to get smacked by Ms. Marvel. Magneto ended up being the star, but Scarlet Witch was able to roll some decent attacks and prevent some of the opponent's attacks.
Round 1. Opponent won initiative. Wonder Woman moved. Ms. Marvel bonded to Magneto who attacked Wonder Woman, dealing 1 damage. Cyborg moved. Ms. Marvel bonded again with Magneto who attacked Wonder Woman, dealing another 2 damage. Superman moved. Ms. Marvel bonded a third time with Magneto to again attack Wonder Woman, who deflected the attack with her Bullets and Bracelets.
Round 2. I won initiative. Ms. Marvel with Magneto again to attack Wonder Woman, reflected with nobody to redirect to. Superman was next, attacking Magneto for 1 damage. Ms. Marvel with Magneto, moved next to and stuck with Blob. Second magnetic assault lost because of Blob. Ms. Marvel then followed up with an attack, dealing no damage. Superman was up next, and Scarlet Witch tried to slow him down but rolled a 1, although he was still stuck, but he failed to damage Blob. Ms. Marvel bonded with Scarlet Witch to attack Superman. Scarlet Witch rolled 3 skulls and a shield but did no damage on her first attack, but 2 skulls and 2 blanks for 6, damaging Superman for 2. Ms. Marvel then rolled 5 skulls and damaged Superman for 2 damage. Scarlet Witch again tried to stop Superman's attack, but got a 5 (she only needs 7 with the +7 with Blob having an Avenger marker and Destiny giving her +3 because of Magneto). Thus, Superman did 1 damage to Blob.
Round 3. I won initiative. Ms. Marvel bonded with Scarlet Witch, rolled 2 skulls, 1 shield, 1 blank, for 4, causing no damage to Superman. She then rolled 3 skulls and 1 blank for 6, killing Superman. Ms. Marvel then had nothing to attack. Wonder Woman ran away from Magneto's range. Then Ms. Marvel bonded with Magneto to have him go after Cyborg, moving him ever closer to Blob and dealing a damage. Cyborg then went, scared of Magneto, disengaging and getting away without taking damage, and then attacked, doing no damage. Ms. Marvel then moved up to get closer to the action. Cyborg was next, again attacking Magneto, but again dealing no damage. Cyborg healed 1 wound.
Round 4. I won initiative. Ms. Marvel bonded with Magneto, who was again in range for it. Again Magneto was only able to move Cyborg once, but still doing that single damage. Ms. Marvel then couldn't see Cyborg, so didn't get to attack him. Cyborg ran away again, didn't take the unlockable, and did 2 damage to Magneto. Ms. Marvel then bonded again with Magneto and this time he was able to move Cyborg twice, moving him right next to Ms. Marvel who whacked him hard for 3 damage, killing him dead. This skipped Cyborg's turn with OM 3, as he was dead. Then Ms. Marvel went and moved Scarlet Witch towards her enemies.
Round 5. Opponent won initiative. Wonder Woman was scared and moved away. Ms. Marvel bonded with Magneto to shoot Wonder Woman. This was ineffective. Shimmer was next and also ran away. Ms. Marvel bonded with Scarlet Witch to get her closer to the action. Mammoth also ran away. Ms. Marvel also went in closer.
Round 6. Opponent won initiative. Wonder Woman moved farther away. Blob moved closer. Wonder Woman did nothing. Ms. Marvel moved Scarlet Witch closer, who attacked Shimmer and rolled 2, which was blocked by Mammoth. Same thing happened for the second attack. Mammoth then attacked Scarlet Witch, which was blocked. Ms. Marvel told Magneto to come in to try to move Mammoth but he failed both times.
Round 7. Opponent won initiative. Mammoth went but Scarlet Witch said no, you can't attack (rolled 17+3=20). Magneto then went and shoved Mammoth into the water, surrounded on all sides so he would be stuck for at least one turn. Then Magneto realized he could still attack him so pushed him further along. Mammoth then went to attack Magneto, and did 1 damage because of his doubled skulls. Ms. Marvel then went to attack Mammoth and did 2 damage. Mammoth was up next and again Scarlet Witch said no, not allowed (rolled 14+3+4=21). Ms. Marvel bonded with Scarlet Witch, who rolled 2 skulls, 2 blanks for 6 skulls, killing Mammoth. Scarlet Witch used her second attack on Shimmer, rolling 3 skulls, dealing all 3 of them as damage. Then Ms. Marvel had nothing left to shoot at.
Round 8. I won initiative. Ms. Marvel went up towards Shimmer and shot her dead. This was the right move as Shimmer was OM1. Ms. Marvel bonded with Magneto who threw Wonder Woman into the water, where Ms. Marvel shot her dead as well.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): I won. All of my heroes were left standing. Magneto took 4 damage, leaving him with 1 life, and Blob took 1 damage, leaving him with 5 life.
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Cost seems appropriate, and the unit is pretty well balanced. There are some times where she feels really strong while others she doesn't seem to do much when her rolls fail. Her attacks are middling without an extra die from either height or other units (like Captain America), but get pretty strong with just that single extra die. Positioning is definitely key with her.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: A lot of fun and ends up being scary to the opponents. Definitely a control type, and if she can get a good position she can either make opponents wary of approaching or lock them in to die. Sometimes she feels a bit lacking in her ability to control the battlefield when getting misses on her ability, but when it succeeds repeatedly it really shuts down the other team. Magical Defense gives her some nice longevity to continue to lock opponents out.
His first tests complete! Happy to see some new testers. His points were a bit off, but I tried to help steer him a bit on what we're looking for.
I'm gonna want at least 1 experienced tester here though, to get another set of hands on it to get a better judgement.

-Selene takes out the Holograms
Special power usages:
Normal attack: 16 wounds inflicted (2 on Kraven, 5 on Nitro, 5 on Sandman, 4 on Rhino)
Altering Avenger: 8 attempts, Rhino’s normal attack negated 2 times, Mysterio’s Smoke and Mirrors negated 1 times
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Selene (3/6 wounds)
Post-game thoughts: The S6 obviously had a huge turn efficiency advantage here, with Zatara falling before accomplishing much of anything, but the two sorceresses really tore through whatever was thrown at them. Wanda got a few really strong Chaos Bolts in there, especially when she one-shot Sandman.
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Scarlet Witch’s damage-dealing power when stat-boosted is pretty insane. Not uncommon to be scoring 6 skull double attacks, which will obviously tear through anything the enemy throws at you pretty quick. However, she’s relatively fragile for her price point. Human Torch, for example, will make short work of her if he can survive long enough. Altering Avenger is perfect. It can shut down some enemy plays, but it’s random enough that it doesn’t feel frustrating. Might be a little on the strong side, but not horribly so?
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Feels awesome! Perfectly on point.
I do feel like Hex Bolts is pretty insane, but not sure it needs to be toned down? I think it would be tricky to do so in a way that makes her feel good with and without stat boosters.
Re: The Book of Scarlet Witch (Avengers) (Public Testing)
Thanks!
I definitely like it encouraged to play her with stat boosting, as the other Scarlets really don't need them at all to do their thing, and this being the Avengers Scarlet, really pushing her towards Cap, Vision, and to a lesser extent Star-Lord, feels appropriate. I also like how out of all the Scarlets, she feels the most vulnerable given her higher cost and lack of re-rolls etc. which sort of doubles down on her need for stat boosting and protective/support units in Quicksilver, Vision, and Cap.
Your 2 close wins lead me to believe she's in a pretty good place.

New testers aside, lots of close games, with some notable luck in some of the wins that might have tipped the other way. I do agree the Chaos Bolts potential might be a tad on the high side, so what I'm thinking is we make this slight tweak:
Quote:
CHAOS BOLTS
When attacking normally with Scarlet Witch, multiply the skulls in her attack by 1 + X. X is the number of blanks in her attack. After attacking normally with Scarlet Witch, if she did not inflict one or more wounds, she may attack normally one additional time.
That should prevent a big double 6+ skull attack from occurring, while still giving her the opportunity to do some damage, and capturing the feel of varying attack potential. It also captures a nice feel of if she picks on weak targets, it's less likely she'll need to attack again for a better outcome to break through.
I'll run a couple more games and see how that pans out.

Close finish. Vision fell fast, but then Scarlet managed to go on a tear. The Fighters were fighting uphill at that point for a few rounds, with some unfortunate botches towards the back half of the game making their climb even tougher, but they managed to pull through and get the victory in the end.
Army Test 2

R6: Star-Lord kills Wolverine(botch).
Star-Lord with 3/5 wounds. (2 life)
Another close finish. Anyone's game here and it looked like the Mutants were done but they managed to take down Gamora and She-Hulk, barely hanging on, but then Star-Lord finished off Wolverine for the win. Easily could have gone to Wolverine if the initiative win went the other way.

Scarlet Witch with 3/4 wounds. (1 life)
Vision with 4/6 wounds. (2 life)
Jubilee with 1/4 wounds. (3 life)
Losing Human Torch out of the gate definitely put the game into the Avengers' favor. Then some late game cleanup by Vision rolling hot sealed the deal. Still felt like anyone's game throughout.
Re: The Book of Scarlet Witch (Avengers) (Public Testing)
2 wins and 2 losses, all reasonably close. I think one final tweak on the d20 roll should suffice. Going to lower the Avengers +4 bonus to +2. Giving the opponent just a little more of a chance to avoid it(I recorded all the numbers, and that would have helped on a couple of the rolls).
