Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
Played two more games of Lords of Hellas, a second 3 Player and a 2 Player. Both were fun, and I'm looking forward to future plays.
This month or early May I'm expecting Big Trouble In Little China (Preorder) and Memoir 44: Through Jungle and Desert (Battle Map Series 2 #2). I just discovered this one, and its coming out soon! It includes small combat cards (second deck) for Jungle and Desert, following up on previous decks for Urban and Winter combat. There is also a nice variety of scenarios, with both British and US against both the Germans and the Japanese in Burma, on Guadalcanal, and in North Africa! |

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
I did pick it up and thought it was pretty fun, but the rules are kind of a mess. So far have just played one mission. I also think it was a little weird to not have the whole crew in the box and instead releases them as expansions.
I do think the minis are pretty good though and look forward to painting them too. |

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
On Monday night, I played
Azul - We played a 4 player game and I ended up winning. This was the first time playing and it was really fun. Dinosaur Island - Another first time play and with 4 players, though 2 different players than Azul. I came in 3rd with this one. This is a really neat game that is like Jurasic Park the board game. It eats up a lot of table space as there are a lot of boards and components. But it's got a ton going on, as you basically try to build up your dinosaur theme park with dinos that you create through experimentation. You can use actions to bring a new dino to your park, but then you have to collect several different types of DNA to be able to build that dino. You can also upgrade the cages to hold more of that type, and there are several different types. There is the wow factor so to speak of certain dinos that will attract different amounts of people, but there is also a security threat level related to each dino and how many you have. At a certain stage of the round after people start coming into your park, where you will score money and VP's, if your security is lower than your threat level, people will get eaten. There are also hooligans that can come in the park that mess things up. There are tons of upgrades you can buy and specialists to help, and many more things going on. It's a great game! Last night I played my 3rd game of DnD via Roll d20 with 4 others in my group and the DM. It was a long night, that went over a bit and I didn't get to bed until after 11, again! Ugh! It was fun though. Hand of fate is moving and the finger points to you ...Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man TUTORIAL FOR RE-BASING FIGURES 3hrs 43mins 32secs = 1242nd of 8808 overall - 1988 Honolulu Marathon |

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?
My father was in town this weekend so we (finally) got to blow some dust off the board game collection and play some things.
Quarriors x2: We haven't played this one in ages. Used to be the kids' favorite; this weekend we played a couple 3-way games. With Lovecraft Letter, below, one of the smaller number of games that my daughter gets excited to play. Ticket to Ride x2: My dad's absolute favorite. In the first game, a 3-way including my son, we played the wildest game of TtR I've ever played. Every single one of us was jostling for position in the Pacific Northwest, which you probably know doesn't have easy ways in & out. My son almost came back to win after having to get from Portland to Seattle - a 1-train route - by going through Denver. Century Golem Edition x4: I love this game. My dad & I played two player a bunch of times, but I think he got tired of being whomped and we moved on to other things. Sushi Go x1,000,000: The surprise hit of the weekend. My dad could not get enough of this set-making game. He normally hates card games, but I realized that he hates them because of the tiny bits of text he can't easily absorb without holding each card up to his face. He *loved* this game, and it was only be pleading that I got him to play some of the other things. Lovecraft Letter x2: The best version of Love Letter, and totally worth the extra money. It has everything Love Letter does, with far superior components, faster play, and one or two extra mechanics that make the game more interesting. It was a fun weekend. |
