Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Agent Carr - we all know him and love him as the unofficial "leader" of the Krav Maga Agents, and melee pulverizer, good for his points but destined to fall in the fray. And while it's true, Carr will get kills with boosted attack up-close with his Sword of Reckoning (you reckon a pistol would do more damage :P), why would you dream of using the 2 attack pea-shooter he holds in his other hand?
When would Carr's value at a distance come into play? And how? Carr has a pistol for a reason... we just haven't found out why yet. 'My dog's got no nose.' "How does it smell?" 'Terrible.' |

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Blade's...I mean Agent Carr's pistol is probably useful for getting a quick attack in for when his pitiful move(for a secret agent, c'mon!) does not land him in engagement. It's also helpful against any anti-melee units. I'd rather not waste an attack of 6 on a Warrior of Ashra.

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Use it when you can't reach your opponent. Also use it if you have a position that would allow you to use carr's pistol and next turn his sword without getting hit in between. Basically only used when you can't use, can't safely use, or can get more hits than, his sword. At range, he's just keeping your opponent busy so he can use his other toy.

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Well met!
His situation is similar to Big Sarge's, with his Pistol Fire Special Attack. |

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
A great choice for the Spirit of Finn. Range is a respectable 3 and you now chuck 7 hand to hand.

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Range is useful for avoiding engagement, which increases your mobility and your likelihood of survival-- that's always worthwhile. There are lots of units that it would be better for Carr to attack from afar, ones that don't need a full 6-atttack dice to vanquish. It's also good for maximizing Carr's position-- being able to disengage is great for claiming the high ground; being able to disengage, claim the high ground and then shoot at your opponent is even better.

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
His ranged attack honestly feels more like a special attack. I don't think there is a good way to "build" your army to take advantage of his ranged attacks rather than using him as a melee figure, but as it has been pointed out there are numerous instances were a ranged attack is the better or only option.
The trick to using Agent Carr to his full extent is knowing when to shoot from a safe distance or when to charge in swinging. To get all of your points worth, you'll have to use both attacks rather than just focusing on one. |

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
Quote:
Of course, Carr could be Blade. And the KMA could be the MIB. About using his pistol attack, as everyone else has said it is just a bonus. But a potentially important one. Say that Carr gets pinned down at the base of a hill by three baddies. He retreats up the hill (disengage) and instead of being useless he now has a very worthwhile attack. Then next round if the baddies follow them and you did it right he has his sword pluse height advantage. FEEL THE PAIN! |

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
So... basicallly, Carr's pistol is a situational tool and a secondary weapon to his swod?

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
That answer is far too simple and would cut this conversation short way too early...

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?
We just got done with a game that Carr actually won. Against Sharwi Wildborn and a lonely Izumi Samurai. He killed Sharwin with his sword. And killed the samurai with his pistol.
NOTE: Didn't have much time to type this but most of you get the point that this was one of those situational places in battle. |
